I've been facing an increasing bout of spammer accounts from Russia, China, Eastern, Europe, and elsewhere. Our site doesn't approve them but it is a pain in the bum to go in and deny six or seven people on a daily basis who have signed up in the queue.
We don't have email verification set up as a practice because of spam block on the registrant's email account blocking our email (which has happened from time to time when we had it up). We could reinstate it but it is simpler to keep everyone in the validation queue as we have it now and just simply delete the bad apples.
I'm wondering, short of banning nearly every non-ISP email account out there (like gmail, yahoo, etc. which I don't want to have to do), if there is a mod or hack out there that will weed them out more effectively?
