Firefox extensions and/or stand-alone applications

Anyone knows a good firefox extension and/or a stand-alone application designed to work with vBulletin forums? I mean, we modify the software to allow our users download the application or extension that notifies of new messages, new messages at subcribed threads, etc.

I searched through some firefox forums, and i found some phpBB and miniBB addons, but no vBulletin ones. Maybe someone could do something related, or document something about it.
