View Full Version : So Far.. vBulletin Support Can't Figure Problem Out

And neither can I.

I am moving from a shared server to a VPS server. The hosting ppl ftp'd all of the files and database over for me. All seems ok except..

When I reply to a post, then click on the submit button the message "page not found" appears. If I refresh it, the page goes blank. When I go out of the thread, and back into it, the reply I entered shows up at the bottom of the thread as it should. This happens when I do reply, or when I do quote/reply. It happens on the "newreply.php" function.

I am running vBulletin v3.6.7 PL1. Hosting is off the US shore, and I did not have these problems on the shared server.

I have a ticket opened with vBulletin support, and they have been helpful, as they have had me turn off all of the forum hacks, reload all of the files (except for image files), check various server settings, etc. I have several skins, so when I test with this, I use the vBulletin default skin.

I have been stuck on this problem for 2 weeks and while this is in error, I am paying for 2 servers, not to mention the frustration part of it.

I could really use some help on this, and THANK YOU.

--------------

I also just noticed that the "delete thread" and "new thread" and "quick reply" functions also do not work. getting same conditions.

also, forgot to mention, I have the ibproarcade installed, but disabled currently, but, when it was enabled, it would also go to a blank page when trying to run it.

argh!!

Install a new vB.

Example: http://mysite.com/testvb and see if you get an error like you're getting on your main one. If not, than a modification is causing all this.

I have disabled all plugins globaly, and I havee reverted the template (vbulletin default) back to its original condition, and still same errors.

ok - you are saying to install another instance of vb? Would you suggest I use the version, v367pl1
I am having problems with, or should I install v368 ?

thanks

Looks like an underlying network or system issue to me.

Are any of the logs producing meaningful output?

I installed a fresh version of 3.6.8 and works fine. Not an update from 367pl1, but a new install of 368.

hmmm - could be a ton of things causing this. but i do know now that it's not the server, right?

I have a few skins/styles to load. I wonder if there will be problems with those as they are older vers. its extremepixels surge and scarlet, and a few i made myself.

Also have about 5 hacks to install.

The big question, is how do I get my member base and all of the database info over to the new database? Dump and restore? I may end up with same probs as I had before, but not sure. Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.

The advice to load a new vb was great advice, and THANK YOU very much!

NEW UPDATE:
The vBulleting support folks (specifically Colin F.) figured out the problem. A memory limit problem with apache. The limit was raised and problem went away like magic. Thanks all for the time and replies to my posts.

Do an vbulletin to vbulletin import using impex to get the data back.

Thanks for that info. I never knew that existed. Is impex is available on vbulletin website?
