View Full Version : Subjective Ranking System

I understand that the ranking system for Coder/Designer is a closely guarded secret and I am not asking for any of it to be revealed. However, it doesn't appear to make much sense to me, for example I have 1742 installs and 1171 posts with a ranking of 5. Then we have another user (no name necessary, just an example) with 1455 installs and around 460 posts with a ranking of 6. Both have a combination of template and code mods.
Recently I dropped from 6 to 5 and it doesn't seem to make much sense. It's as if an admin chose to tick a box to drop me down a notch, could be, could not be but whatever the case it appears subjective.
Personally, I would love to just share my mods without being labeled period, regardless of rank. I looked in the options and don't see this available, if it is please point me to it. If not, I would like to recommend this be an option.

How many posts you have made has no effect.
The system is entirely automatic, there is no ability for an admin to "drop you a notch", and as a former moderator I'm sure you are already aware that we have better things to do with our time.
There is no opt out, nor is one likely to be added.

Fair enough, my guess is that less credit is given towards template mods, they aren't even listed on the Latest Mods module on the home page which is too bad, there are a lot of fantastic template mods out there that people have put a lot of time and work into. It can take just as long to make some template modifications as it can to write queries and slap them into the what's going on box.
Again, not asking anyone to divulge anything, just to take note.
There is no opt out, nor is one likely to be added.
Okay, just a thought.

A lot of things are taken into account, including the number of install and for which version a modification is.
Designs have always been in a seperate list on the portal, not sure why they have disappeared, but we will look into that one of these days.

Thanks Marco, I am sure many would appreciate that.

Templates/Styles are in the full list of new releases (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=shownewreleases).
They got dropped from the portal at some point, not really sure when or why - the link to the list above was also meant to be added to the box as well, but it seems that never happened.
