The quantity of messages has decreased from 1000 to 500, whereas the quantity of users visiting a forum daily has increased from 200 to 400... I just cant figure it...

Any ideas?

As the last poster said, the ratio of members to posts has gotten lower/more people are joining but less posting. Well to be honest, I wish I did know why such things happen, but I often observe this happening the longer the board is around and the more members/posts there are. It seems at the beginning, the members are more active. I suspect this could be related to how many new members are pretty much hyperactive when they first register compared to later (seriously, many new guys post hundreds of posts at first, then the active gets far less later). That and how it seems more people just join randomly when the forum is bigger, maybe with no intention of posting?

Don't know personally. Seems like something that occurs when the forum starts getting far more traffic.

If people are part of a small community they might feel more free to post. Once the community increases in size, they just become one of the many members and they don't feel like posting anymore. Just a guess.
