I'm an admin on my forums and have to edit posts sometimes. How do I disable where it says a post is edited by me so others can't see it?

That would be in Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > then under "General Permissions" make sure "Show edited by note on edited messages?" is set at no :D

This looks like a good thread for me to squat on :P
Any hack out there to remove this on a per post basis?
Thanks guys!

This thread is old... hope it's okay to continue on this subject.

I've set it up not to show "edited by" for admins... but it still shows up. Perhaps something has changed since ver 3.7.x. Our forums are private and by invite only so our users know we're not going to be sneaking in and editing their posts. However, once in a while a member will ask me to review a post of particular importance on their behalf and make corrections. I'd prefer not to have the "edited by" comment show up as a courtesy to these members.

I think this is all tied into the grace period for allowing editing before the "edited by" comment shows up. I've set it to 10 minutes, but that isn't always sufficient time for me to get in there and edit the posts on member's behalf. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to point out that I am aware of the drawback of not being able to post a reason for editing when it's appropriate to do so. Which leads me to my next question...

MediaHound asked some time ago if there is a way to remove this comment on a per-post basis. Is that possible?

I've never turned it on and it's never shown it, from 3.6.7 through to 3.7.2 now. Perhaps you have a mod showing it, or you're also a member of a group that shows it?

I've never seen a mod for the per-post thing.

Hmm... good point Videx. It never use to show it... but the other day I assigned myself to some groups to test something out. DOH! I bet that's the answer. Thanks!

I believe it only affects any edits made from that point on - you will need to rebuild the posts to get rid of the notice on old posts.
TRUNCATE TABLE postparsed

Also make sure that you are not a member of a secondary usergroup that has this option set to Yes.

Yes, I would like to get rid of this in some old posts too and I am not able to?:-(. Once this information is saved to the post, there is no way to remove it and it only consumes space with link to show some of older versions of post (which can contain something against rules). I am not talking about new posts, only about ones that already exists.

I tried rebuild post cache and executed this SQL query many times, no effect.

Yes, I am sure that I tried it with profile with assigned primary group only (which has "Show edited by note on edited messages?" set to "No").

Any help?
