I need help with updating

This is probably the stupidest question to be asking on these forums but I want to be safe. Ive already established a good forum with 3.6.5. Im afraid of attempting to update to 3.6.8 because I feel it might break my forums. Can anyone explain to me a fail safe way of updating so that I can attempt to do it without ruining my forums.

hey i was also afraid i was going to do something major wrong, but it ended up very simple, just uploading and over writing old files. very easy, just long as you do a back up things will be fine.

You will also need to update the templates. You can either revert them or do the changes required as specified in the release thread over at vBulletin.com.
