Kind of thinking out loud but would something like this work?

A mod that would allow a forum's population to be able to vote to moderate threads (delete, move) and ban users. Maybe also administer the forum hierarchy (add/move/delete sub-forums).

I think it would be interesting to see a forum run itself not to mention reducing effort required for Admins.

That would be pretty cool, like users vote on banning users or something. Like maby, for example, a thread is marked for deletion by someone, and users and admins vote to delete it, except the admin still has authority to do stuff like ban a user when it's needed immediately.

Also, maby there could be votes to depose admins, unless they're the founder or others defined by the lead administrator.

Yeah definitely ... I'd like to see just about "anything" that is practical be put to a vote and let the uses run everything. :)

My wish-list as I can think of it now is:

* propose/vote to ban/unban user
* propose/vote to move/delete/lock/sticky thread
* propose/vote to create/move/delete forum
* nominate mod/"impeach" mod

It might also be good for a forum where either the admin is never around or rarely around.

The experiment would be nice to watch.

Yeah ... if you are able to monetize forums (I so far am not) it might help you to run more of them.
