View Full Version : Trying to see FPS_External thread but can't get to it
I'm trying to get to a thread about FPS_External.php from links on the .com forums, but when I get there it says that I don't have permission to see it.
What do I need to see it?
Is FPS_External no longer available?
(I'm really trying to find out what's in the external.php and how to get forum names up in the JS generated lists.)

The FPS_External threads are no longer available.
The FPS_External threads are no longer available.
Thanks Paul.
Do you know why? That is to ask; is it unsafe or something?
Thanks again.

I have no idea, the author removed them almost a year ago.

I just realized today that they were even removed (I really must read my PMs more often).
XXP: From the PM I got the threads were removed because I temporarily had the files removed (if I recall correctly it was because I had to make security related fix). If you're still trying to find a copy you can download it from here (http://www.cinvin.com/products.php?do=productinfo&p=23).
Paul M: If there is a way for me to re-attach the zip file to have the threads restored, please let me know.

If you want them restored then just drop any staff member a PM (I'm at work so don't have time to look for them atm).
Thanks for putting this up but, happily, we were able to find another substitute for external.php that is well documented and that functions w/ 3.6x. (Your site says that it won't work with 3.6. Also, the license at your site seems to disallow modification or customization. Is that your intention? Looks like maybe it was meant for your commercial software.)

For the license... hhhmm, I think I need to re-read how exactly it's worded. Anybody is of course free to modify any of the packages, just not redistribute them.

XXP,
Can you share the external.php replacement you found? I have been searching for a while for a mod to enable reply posts to show up in the RSS feed.
Thanks,

Swell! Thanks for that.
It turns out that the one that we have is essentially a slightly modified/enhanced version of your FPS_external.php.
Funny thing is, now after looking at the one we did download with it's much more thorough commenting -- which I'm guessing is yours -- it was possible to see that the near stock external.php was able to do most of what we needed with just a couple of tweaks.
So; yes we ended up modifying the standard distribution for our needs, but ONLY because your documentation made it discernable and usable. Thanks very, very much for that.
