add a poll

i am new to vbulletin, and to be honest have found it quite overwhelling but i am getting there.
i would like to add a poll on my forum, similar to the ones found on the main page of vbulletin.org. would anyone be able to pont me in the right direction to help me do this.
i'm running 3.6.8.

Polls can be created just like creating new topics .
To get your poll on the homepage of your site , you will need to use some hack or custom programming.
