I'm looking for a mod that would work similar to how the "Mood Hack" works, but it would be text (ajax?) driven where you would have an input field after your user name that's visible in the postbits etc.
Say your username is Jon. Next to your username, you could type something in and it would immediately update. (Those familiar with facebook will be familiar with this.)
Jon "is busy drinking coffee".
You would type in the part in quotes - whatever you choose - and have that status immediately reflected to all other users on the forums.
Jon "is away from his desk."
or
Jon "is enjoying reading all these posts."
A simple hack that will just place the provided text in the appropriate location in (near) realtime.
Could be turned on/off per user basis, or by admin in admin CP. I can't imagine that it's very difficult to create such a hack...? (I'm no coder, so I wouldn't really know. Just seems simple enough compared to some of the VERY elaborate hacks out there.)
Does such a hack exist? If not, would anyone be interested in making one?
I look forward to any input, and yes, this idea IS stolen from Facebook. It's such a useful feature as it can be used to make fun comments or to set your online status. I have vBpager installed and often get paged when I'm away from my desk, so I'd like to be able to set my away status using this method as well.
