Early 80's electronic pop is probably my favourite, but there are many other types where I will like some examples and not others.

I hate Rap, but could possibly find the odd sond with rap in it that is passable.

well.... depends where i am and what im doing... i am a country folk so i listen to country, but when im rolling in my german engineered caddy i pound hip hop or loud alternative through my 4 12 inch mtx subs and 14 smaller speakers, but sitting here on the comp... hmmm depends on what im working on and what i feel like listening too, right now im listening to some akon and next song is greenday, who says you have to listen to a certain music group?

I'm pretty eclectic, but most of today's bands that I like are in the black/death metal genre.

I still enjoy some old school Ice Cube and Public Enemy, traditional eighties hair metal like the Crue and Queensryche, classic rockers like Kiss and Led Zeppelin, essential folk artists like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, and I even like my John Denver and Barry Manilow.

But these days, pretty much everything sucks. I like what Into Eternity and Amon Amarth are doing. I like Mushroomhead. But the last time I said "OMFG this rocks" it was about Marilyn Manson. Nobody's really approached that level of excellence in artistry since, although Cradle of Filth have played around just outside of it.

Do I have to pick just one!?

I grew up on the rock music of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and of course the early 90's. I like most all of it...from the hardcore metal to the "hair bands" (at least some of the hair bands ;)). I also listen to a lot of "hippie" music...in fact just me showing up at your house means some hippie music will come on the radio assuming you have it on the right channel...at least that's what my friend tells me! ;)

I got into rap/hip-hop at a very early age...which is odd because I'm a small white farm boy! :p I won't go into the guys I like but I will tell you that most of them are from the early 90's and late 80's. I'm a big fan of good lyrics in rap music which there seems to be a lack of these days....and I love the gangster rap stuff which sports some of the worse lyrics in this day and age (imo anyway). Sure they were talking about shooting each other and dealing in 92...but most of them back then still had a message in their music ("Get out of this lifestyle you're living if you can"). These new guys? They love the lifestyle....and they just encourge more of the youth to join it. But they can rap about what they want I suppose....

I'm also in techno...mostly Japanese and Korean techno although I ain't very picky on that front. :)

Bluegrass music is all around me....I can go to most any house and hear someone playing it. In other words I love it but I didn't feel that way until I was around the age of 13.

I listen to losts of other stuff but there are the main three. I'll give anything a try at least once..:)

I'm very eclectic, I find expanding my musical tastes beyond the main genre I like to listen too helps me grow as a musician.

I mostly listen to Symphonic Metal, such as Nightwish, Within Temptation, Krypteria, Theatre of Tragedy, Tristania, etc. etc.

Though, I also listen to a lot of Hard Rock, such as Seether, Sick Puppies, Shinedown, Halestorm, etc. etc.

Classic Rock - Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen, and other similar groups.

Current Rock - Seether, Shinedown, System of a Down, Rage against the Machine, Korn, Disturbed and similar groups.

Occasionally, I listen to a little R&B from the likes of Joss Stone. Or a little Swing but primarily stick with the above.
