For example, I download a style called orange & black

Download the attached Zip file, and unzip to your computer.
2. Upload the entire orangeblack folder into your forum/images directory, so that your path is images/orangeblack

Like where do I find my forum/images directory? Is it on my computer or...?

3. Import the xml file by going to your ACP --> styles and templates --> download/upload styles --> browse --> select the xml file where you have it saved on your computer --> import

The forum/images directory is on the server where your forum is located.

ACP stands for Admin Control Panel.

As said above, use an FTP program such as cuteFTP or smartFTP... your host name to access your ftp server is:
ftp.yoursite.com
your username is the username you use to enter to the cPanel (or other)
your password is the password you use to enter to the cPanel (or other)
