How did he post before he joined?

This guy (see attachment) somehow posted before he was a member... Did the staff somehow make this so, because as far as I know, I didn't think this kind of site would have guest posting, even less so in some kind of announcements forum...

I don't have a real clue, but only thing I could think of is he was a member and posted, was deleted and re-signed up or something along them lines for his join date to be changed in the DB.

Simple:

Create a new account, and merge an older account with the new account. The posts from the older account are now owned by the newly registered account.
