postbit help

i want to add some info in the postbit for members, how can i add my own info? for example i want to add "what do you ride" helppppp:confused:

Do you mean, like the user fills out a field in his User CP and it's displayed in the postbit? If so, this helped me do just that. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168741

It took me a while to absorb some of it, but eventually, I was able to add a multiple-choice profile field that displayed little images based on the user's selection. What you want to do is probably a bit simpler then that.

im having trouble finding the postbit in my admin control, were is it? i have 3.6.8 only time i see a postbit is when i install a plug in. but i delated it and there is no more postbit??????

Styles and Templates -> Style Manager -> (From the right) Edit Templates -> Postbit Templates -> postbit.

umm i cant figure that out at all. is there any other way to do it, or a better explaination?

Well, let me ask you this. Are you trying so get users to fill out a form "What do you drive" to show up the postbit? If that's all your trying to do, then just refer to the first post of that thread. The second post is just if you want to get more fancy with it. What parts, specifically, do you need help figuring out?

i guess where to put the code. i put it at the bottom of the legacy and nothing happen.

Did you create your custom profile field in the Admin CP?

If you haven't already, create a new profile field in your:

Admin CP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field

That's where you create your "What do you drive" question. In that menu you have all kinds of options for your question, even if you want to make it mandatory for users.

When your done creating it, you'll notice all the profile fields have "Names" next to them. Like field5 or field3, etc. When you paste in the code to your template, you have to replace "fieldX" with the appropriate field name.



Also, which way are your forums aligned? Are they like this one with the avatar and postbit information above each post? Or are they on the side of each post? If they're on the side you need to add the code to the postbit_legacy template instead.

Whichever template you use, try putting it below this:

Which will place it right below the messenger icons. Look around in that template and you'll begin to recognize some things and be able to tell where you want to put the code according to your own personal tastes.

No problem. Yeah, just duplicate it for the different fields using the different field names.

When you get familiar with it, give the other two posts in that thread a look through. I stayed away from them for several months, thinking it was over my head, and came back to them later. Basically, he's just trying to explain the technical reasons for why the code works, and then shows you what to add as well. But if you read through it, you'll find that what he's showing is actually just as simple as the first post, just with a couple more steps.

The second post comes in handy when you want to display something from a field you created that's multiple choice (those little radio buttons). And the third post, is when you want to display things from a field that a user can choose more then one option (those little check boxes).

only problem is when i add another it adds it horizontal not vertical
