Should have been multiple choice. While IE7 is my primary browser, I use Firefox, Opera, Safari 3 and Konqueror for testing purposes. None of my computers have IE6 anymore.

Firefox is the most used browser in vBulletin.org - 52%.
Out of the 52%, about 95% are using Firefox 2.0+.

Firefox all the way. I have no philosophic hatred for Microsoft, but IE renders terribly, has caching issues, and is just so irritating that I feel badly for anyone who still uses it :(

That said I do a lot of time trying to work around issues for our IE users, and have been doing that for years it seems like.

I have 2 OS's on my PC and XP uses Firefox and Vista uses IE, I don't know why (maybe it's my GFX card) but there is some issue in Vista with Firefox for me that when you scroll down it would like 'judder' so to speak... It's hard to explain ;).

I remember when AOL 4.0 came out it was using Internet Explorer. Also I believe they still use Internet Explorer in their service. IT may not say IE, but I believe it is. The reason I say this I was testing out multiple browsers with my IE png fix, and when I applied the fix, it also fixed AOL's browser.

I think it's a slightly modified version of Internet Explorer. Seriously, I upgraded Internet Explorer to version 7 and there was the option in AOL to open new tabs or the like but it was greyed out and not usable. I since stopped using it for obvious reasons.

Besides, if every browser was listed here, it would be a massive list.

No if you have aol internet like me its like its own browser.

Its a shell on the Internet Explorer Engine. They tried to switch to the Netscape engine at one point but Microsoft was going to charge them $750 million to have AOL icons on the desktop with all new versions of Windows so they abandoned that plan. So AOL couldn't use their own property and eventually laid off all the developers and spun it off to Mozilla. (long story short)

It's not "Crazy" .. you just have to understand the audience (your target group).

any site catering to internet technologies, programming or webmasters will see the opposite of what most non-tech sites see ... most webmasters use firefox.

the rest of the world still uses IE but seems to be slowly moving away from it ... but frankly ... most users just don't care ... until their system gets hosed yet again and they finally decide to take the advice of the person fixing it. ;)

Maxthon is a shell application that uses the Internet Explorer engine for rendering pages on the user's computer.

As a web designer, I must use a number of different browsers if I want my work to render similarly in all platforms. However, my browser of choice, the one I use for every-day surfing, is IE7. I've tried to be a good member of the coding community and switch to FF, but the fact for me is, FF renders text poorly, is not any faster at bringing up a page, and especially when using it on vB forums, it fails to refresh the page after a Quick Reply.

IE7 isn't perfect. Neither is FF. But IE will give me all the information it can on a page. If an image is broken, I know right away. In FF, that image just doesn't show, no red X or anything. In IE, script errors are reported in the lower left corner of the browser window. In FF, nothing. I can't tell you how many times I have reported to other sites, errors or missing images and the site owners weren't even aware of them - sometimes are irritated that I bring it up and blame IE or my settings.

The clique that many FF users are unregistered members of seem to have personal issues with IE and Microsoft. It's shameless bias. MS made a huge leap into popular browser functioning with IE7, but many hardcore FF users have taken little notice and even less of a trial run. I don't particularly care if MS played copycat, they put something together that is leaps and bounds better than IE6 - and I was a fan of IE6.

FF2 might be a good browser, but it hasn't lived up to its hype.

R'gards,

Jim

Maxthon > Firefox

Not only it uses less RAM but u cant compare the features and security and adhunter speed etc.

Super drag to open links in new tabs , Magick fill and tons of other

Actually firefox with all plugins is not even close to Maxthon without any plugins

Not to mention that it has the option to use gecko engine as well

Dont u believe me that its the best ?

Download and do a test for your self :)

Then the text isn't even anti-aliased, and looks worse that bitmapped pixel fonts. Reading text out of that is painful.

Or, switch the background color system wide on XP so it can be themed with it's background. No, opt out option, just did it automatically. Now everything went from a nice bright blue-gray to a tacky brownish gray.

If FF2 wasn't required for web design, I'd ditch it like the "dish".
