problem with "update counters"

every time I "update counters" in the admincp/maintenance, members post count will be
reduced to the amount before I used vbulletin's impex.
(A few weeks ago, I used impex converted a smf forum into vbulletin.)

what is the cause of this problem and what is the solution?

You should ask this over at vB.com forums as this is probably an issue with vBulletin itself.

Did you delete some posts/threads or do a big cleanup after you imported using Impex?

thank you for your reply.
I did not have to merge the forums. The smf to vb was an clean conversion.
I only deleted the "default" vb forum so that the all the old smf forums "are dropped" as vb forums.
