Is there a way to make a thread time out

Is there a way to put a time limit on a thread.

If I post a thread is there a way to automatically make it disappear on a certain date?
This is not the same as prune threads by date. I need this to happen automatically.

Is there a way to be notified by email from the system that the thread is going to disappear in x days?
