i've questioned others hacks where other's (not hack publisher) © code were used, but never got any reply via PM or anything... is this allowed or is it not?

I'm not sure I understand your request.

You must have the authors permissions if you use any custom part of a released hack ;)

i mean if i use a bit of copyrighted Microsoft or some other GPL or made for public use code... but incorporate a plugin around that code, can i host it here as my own release if the proper © was stated in the release?

No, you may not distribute anyone's copyrighted code unless you ask for permission or they explicitly state that you may reuse their code.

then you guys need to check some hacks released here, cause i know for a fact that some are released with such and they have not gotten permission to re-distribute such code. i guess the report post here that i've used in the past doesn't really matter so i won't bother with it again; but just wanted to bring yet another FYI to your attention.

There are far too many releases for us to check. If you have something to report then use the report feature.

keep in mind GearTripper .. it's only an issue if you COPY custom code from another modification ..

you can always create a similar modification with your own code .. "ideas" are not copyrighted

I think that's what he was saying. He's used the report a post b4 with little results. I may have misread the post. ? :)

you are correct. i have reported them and nothing was done. it's blantant copyright violation. i see more and more of this going on but don't even bother anymore cause reporting the posts do nothing. i've also asked questions when reporting things and NEVER get a reply. i just don't care anymore and to each their own. the problem is that a lot of these things are screwing up peoples forums and nobody is doing anything about it. i don't want to mention any names here, but there should be some better checks and balances put into place here. i just don't care anymore though.

I guess we have a different definition of "nothing was done" to you.

I just checked the last two reported posts of yours - and found one modification was deleted, and the other was withdrawn.

you may be right, i see soo many now (by the same guy) that maybe i forgot to report some of them. but you probably know who i'm referring to anyways.

All reports are handled and action taken when needed. Reports are not the way to ask questions, you will never get an anwer.

If you want to ask a question simply post it on the forum or PM a staff member.
