When posting a mod, there is an option about whether its supported or not.
Personally, I can't let users of my mod helpless when they install it, but also I can't support mods that I had released months ago, I don't even remember their code anymore to help out!
It would be nice if we could set a "limited support" option, and an expiry date, after which the mod will automatically be marked as not supported. The expiry date would be visible in anyone viewing the hack's thread and changeable by the hack author.
What do you think?

This sounds like an excellent idea. I'd like to see it implemented, but it would take a lot of work.

This is a very good idea and would benefit both users, and coders.

Why not simply untick the supported option when you are no longer going to support it - and even add a small message saying it's no longer supported (I have done this with all my 3.0 & 3.5 mods). :)

1. What if the coder has left vb.org in the meantime? Personally, I was almost gone for about a year.
2. It's time consuming. There are features here that save less time than that.
3. You have to remember to do it. Some of us have a bad memory :p
4. Members installed the hack with the assurance that it was supported. It's not nice to simply stop supporting it one morning.
5. Oh just admit you're bored to do it :p :p :p

When you submit a modification you would not know after how many time you can not support it anymore, so i doubt it will be very usefull.

Automatically marking a modification as unsupported if the author has not been online for X-days would make sense though.

Personally, I know that if I don't look at the code for some days, I forget most of it and how it works, so I can't effectively support it any more.
I can't be the only one!
