This is the nomination thread for Board of the Month September.

Please note the BOTM Rules here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/info.php?do=botm

Nominations will be accepted until the 31st of August. Also, please note, that the current voting thread for BOTM August will remain open as well until the 31st of August as well.

When nominating please post the site name, URL to the forum, a short description what makes your board stand out from default vBulletin, and a reason for nomination that will motivate others to second the nomination. If the staff feels that a nomination post is too promotional it will be edited accordingly.

Any sites without a name, URL, description and reason for nomination will NOT be entered into the poll. Please ensure that your nomination is in the format:

Site Name: vBulletin.org
URL: www.vbulletin.org (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/../) - this must be clickable
Description: Official vBulletin Modifications Site
Reason for Nomination: Not Nominated. This is an example nomination.

When seconding sites, please ensure that you use the same post for the maximum of 3 allowed seconds. Any seconds not located in your first seconding post will not be counted. Please also ensure that you include the site name or URL for the site you are seconding in your post. If there is no name or URL provided then the post will be ignored when the nominations are counted.

Also, please make sure that you are seconding a forum that has already been nominated by its forum owner. Any seconds for a forum that has not been nominated yet will be counted as null and void.

Please posts only nominations or seconds, no "Thank you" posts are needed, they clutter the thread and will be deleted.

Any queries regarding the BOTM Contests should be sent via PM to Danny.VBT (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?action=getinfo&username=Danny.VBT).

Best of luck to all nominees!

URL: www.elforro.com
Description: A spanish general talk community with a variety of different forums and topics.
Reason for Nomination: Totally customized template, colors and icons (100% original). It has almost 1,500,000 Posts, more than 70,000 members and almost 1,500 new registered members per day. The community is only 18 months old and it's already the most active Spanish VBulletin community (average of 18 posts per member). And it's using over 40 PlugIns without any problem.

Site Name: Stirrdup
URL: http://www.stirrdup.com

Description: Social news site similiar to Digg and Reddit, but built upon the idea that the content that is the most interesting isn't necessarily the same as what everyone agrees with. Stories gain points through users doing what they would normally do while using a site (clicking links and leaving comments) and the ones that gain the most interest are promoted to the main page. If they continue to hold interest, they will stay higher on the page until the time weighted system slowly moves them down to allow more fresh content in. This fixes the "bury brigade" censorship that plagues Digg and Reddit.

Reason for Nomination: The entire site is implemented using vbulletin plugins. Not a single file change. Really shows the flexibility of the system.

Site Name: BigSoccer - Share the Passion!

Site URL: http://www.bigsoccer.com (http://www.bigsoccer.com/)

Description: BigSoccer is the leading forum for soccer fans around the world. Now 12 years old we have over 100,000 registered users, serve 820,000 uniques a month, and served 20mm forum pages in June. Our members talk about every soccer club, league and tournament on earth. BigSoccer is one of the largest vB's, and one of the earliest, since the v1beta days.

Reason for Nomination: We relaunched our site just days before the end of last month's nominating process. It was a complete revamp, with major functionality extensions built in vB and vBadvanced. We've reskinned the site, built a personalized navigation tool that remembers your prefered state of which categories are open and closed, and added a "digg" tool, for both external links and internal threads. The new dynamic homepage makes use of Ajax and CSS, plus personalization, to give you an alternative view into the forums, or forum category, or forum itself. You now have an ability to sort by various measures of popularity (a mix of diggs, replies, views, and time) or last post time (ie latest threads), and the HP will remember your preference the next time you come back. This provides you a more intuitive insight into where the action is in the forums and allows people to find valuable and interesting content in areas of the site they might normally have noticed, due to our size and depth.

Reason for Nomination: A fairly new/low traffic site, offering up a place for people to get together and gossip about the release about starcraft 2. (Greatest game ever :P) I would love for this site to get some exposure since this is my first site and boy is it time consuming. But, this would be very rewarding for me, if this site was nominated. And also if not for me do it for SC2!

Description: Virtual American Airlines is a site dedicated to simulating real world American Airlines operations, by using Microsoft's Flight Simulator software to allow it's members (pilots) to fly scheduled AA flights and subsequently accumulate flight hours.

Reason for Nomination: We at Virtual American Airlines strive on quality and this is clearly apparent by the way we maintain and operate our website. But what really sets us apart from the rest of the Virtual Airlines in the flightsimming community is our family-oriented environment. We have been together as a "family" since the year 2000. We originally started out as a Virtual Airline named AirPUERTORICO.

We then went through some changes and transitions, but throughout all these years, we have stayed together. I really hope you guys enjoy our website. Like I said before, we are all about quality and putting out the best that we have to offer.

Description: This site is a life long dream come true for me. I have been a fan of Stephen King since I was a teenager and always wondered how I could feed the addiction. While it is primarily a fan site for Stephen Kings series of books "The Dark Tower", any fan knows that everything about the man has something to do with this series. We have books and writing information--along with loads of information on the series itself.

We have only been around two months and are already climbing the search engines. Already on the first page with the keywords...the dark tower. Fans of the series will love this new fan sites ran by fans, for fans.

Reason for Nomiation: The board itself is beautiful in every way imo and I believe it should be nominated not only for that but also it is the best Stephen King fan site on the net, hands down. Also, this community has been instrumental in helping me get it off the ground

Thank you for your consideration.

Reason for Nomination: I think that my forum is unique and from what I know it is one of a kind. I'm entering it kind of early - I still have a lot to do as it has on been on vBulletin for a few hours such as create an exclusive theme, install some mods, modify the forums and many other things. All that was implemented through vBadvanced with alot of custom written modules. The site (and its brother TR) are quite large and well populated for purely local sites and are the hard work of our dedicated userbase, our tireless moderators and some pretty savvy code monkeys.

Reason for Nomination: The forum skin is unique to our site, as i designed the skin myself, as well as a matching CP skin. i have customized many aspects of the board, including a nearly full-scale replacement of the original default vb images (based off the army-green (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=86719) images by breaker) (a select handful, such as yellow/red cards, remain default).

We have also added and customized a 2nd skin for those who like the darker boards, as well as a choice to use the vB Default skin if the user prefers. we currently have only 11 members NOT using our custom designed skin.

Site Name: WebArea - Romanian Webmaster community

URL: http://www.webarea.ro

Description: Although the site is pretty new(4 months old) Webarea is a romanian webmaster community which contains topics/posts about programming/design/SEO and marketing guidelines. It is one of the few serious webmaster communities in romania where even beginner webmasters can seek help from expert users. Every user is just as much respected as the moderators/admins.

Reason for Nomination: I have the same dream as every vbulletin owner's dream which is to have a big and solid community with quality posts and spam reduced to minimum. In my opinion the moderating staff at webarea ar as active as they can get, around 25% of the daily posts are erased because they just don't fit the forum's standards. In my opinion my forum is pretty much unique in its way:the design is used on about two more sites(1 vbulletin(the guy who made the skin split) and 1 phpbb(a friend recoded the skin for phpbb). We have active revenue sharing on the forum and lots of mods are installed and lots of functions are powered by AJAX(we love ajax). Although the website is a webmaster community we like having fun and having a good time just like any person on earth, thats why users have the chance to change their moods, or post funny topics. The moderating team isn't too soft on the community but not too harsh either(we dont want the time spent on the forum be like in army)

Reason for Nomination: What started out as a simple discussion forum a year ago has blossomed into a pro-active software development and support advocacy group. Our members all work for non-profits and use the forum to get the most out of their Blackbaud software investment.

We feature a custom skin to match our Joomla and Pligg integrations, and a tendency towards hacks that encourage user participation and revisiting the site such as cyricx's Instant Email Notification, ChipIn donation widgets, and the vbGeek's Geek Gazette newsletter. We have embedded a demofuse.com site tour on the front page as well.

Blackbaud has about 15,000 clients and we have almost 10% of that clientbase in our membership.

Site Name: Gator Envy
URL: www.gatorenvy.com (http://www.gatorenvy.com)
Description: University of Florida Gator sports discussion forum.
Reason for Nomination: This is the best looking Gator sports forum on the web. The site isn't even a year old and we have a solid membership. Along with the custom design, Gator Envy also has many created content pages and uses a dozen mods.

Site Name: Physics Forums
URL: http://www.physicsforums.com
Description: Science and Homework Help Community
Reason for Nomination: Could very well be the highest quality of discussion anywhere on the web. Virtually zero spam. 20+ Staff that is grad student level and above. Nearly 20,000 homework help questions worked though. Custom LATEX addon. It speaks for itself, again extremely high quality of discussion as we have a zero tolerance crackpot policy.

I definitely second http://www.physicsforums.com. That forum has satisfied a lot of my intellectual curiosity over the past year or so of lurking.
