How do I add new required fields to the registration page?

I want to add them to the registration page only, not the user's profile page. I am trying to add a field called "invitation code" so the user can enter an invitation code they were issued in order to enter it at the time of registration.

I do not wish to add it to their profile. I want it strictly for the registration page only. Is there a way to do this?

For example, one of the required questions is location which is also listed on their profile page.

I want to add "invitation code" to the registration page. I do not wish the registration code field to be viewable to anyone accept me (after the members enter it when they register of course).

Okay, but I want to be the only one to be able to view it. I do not even want the member to see it after they entered it (since they would not be allowed to edit it). When I set it to private, who all can see it?

You can specify that the field only be shown during Registration. The field will still be visible if the User goes into the UserCP -> Edit Profile; but the field itself cannot be edited. When a field is set to "Private" only those with appropriate permissions (Set through Usergroup Perms.) can see it.

What about other people viewing that user's profile. Can they see that field?

Again, only if they're given permission through Usergroup Permissions.
