Hi all,

I have had trouble with my style manager in my admin's cp since I installed VB. But I would actually prefer to customize without going through the cp anyway.

Is it possible to customize my forums by editing the file(s) that are on my server? I want to simply download the necessary file using my ftp client and just add some simple html and then upload the edited file. This is how I did all my editing with phpBB. I want to edit the "shell" or "skin" of my forums. Is this possible in VB without using the control panel?

Thank you in advance,
Michelle

How have you had trouble with the Style Manager?

When I click on any of the selections in the style manager, such as “edit templates” or “edit settings”, then click “go”, nothing happens. The only thing I can do is expand the template options but even when I do that, I still cannot select any of the options. This happens on the style I installed and use for my forums as well as the default style.

I’ve tried it from different computers. I’ve tried to ctrl-click thinking that it may be a pop-up window, but nothing seems to work. That’s why I thought maybe I could just edit the headers, index, etc by editing the files on my server rather than editing via the style manager.

Thanks!

Templates are stored in your database and converted into a format that would make it, for all intents and purposes, unreadable for the purposes of editing.

What browser have you been using?

I've been using IE.
