Considering vB, But I need to Know Hack Possibility

I currently use a free message board service for my website, but I'm wanting to move around September (that's when the site gets updated). I've looked at vB, and it looks great, almost exactly what I'm looking for. But I would need a certain hack if it was possible, that I would be willing to pay for.

I need to be able to like usernames so members can switch through usernames quickly and easily without having to logout/login to switch. Is that possible?

I've read the rules of this forum, and I'm not trying to request a hack, as I don't have a liscense yet. But this is something that my board would absolutely require to keep my members happy, and I have to find out if it's possible before I spend the money on a license. If it isn't, I would have to go elsewhere.

I found that about twenty minutes ago, and it's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks:D But what happens if vBulletin updates? I think that hack is a little old. Would it still work?

the hack is up to date for the actual version, even if the hack was released long time ago.. it was updated by the coder and will surely work for the next versions until 4.0 (in a long time)

Do you have to upgrade to the new version of vB when it is released, or can you wait until your modification is updated for the new release?

Most hacks will continue to work after each vbulletin upgrade, only if vbulletin puts out a major update eg. goes from 3.6.x to 4.x then it might no longer work without some modifications to the hack. At this stage, if you want to keep using the hack you will need to wait til the hack is updated.

I have been using vbulletin for a couple of years with many hacks, and I have always upgraded straight away, and never had a problem with a hack not working.
