I just would like to know what would be the best way to slightly modify the default theme colours. I know that these can be changed in CSS but should I modify the original XML file or copy and modify the duplicated version? I saw an xml file of the default theme in /install/ but the xml file is 780KB huge!
What's the best way to modify the default theme?

hi buddy,
i actually opened a similar thread hoping to find a way to easily change the colors on my template. couple days ago i found this useful info when surfing the net. its pretty much like a guide for coloring the template. heres the link. if you have the patience, u might try using this guide and change the color of your forum through your adminpanel>stylemanager>allstyle options
hope this will help

pureturk, thanks for trying to help.
I'm just not too sure if modifying the default theme is a wise idea. Thatls all. I tried to import the default them XML file but it's so large! I'm sure there is a better way around this.

i feel you. i m looking for a better and easy way also. if you do edit your default theme through control panel, and if you dont like what the outcome is, no worries! you can simply revert all changes you did to restore the old look. i know because i have done it before and the color changes i did turned out horrible. thank God someone told me that there is a "revert" option (its a tiny check box that appears everytime you custmize). if you dont like how it turns out, it will take you 2 minutes to revert everything back. or we can both wait to see if someone else will give us the magic answer for an easier way

Actually, it only takes you 1 second to revert :p. There's a checkbox for "Revert All Options".

Dismounted, do you know of any templates that only changes the color of the forum? i mean like keeping the same style with different colors though

Like I said I know where to change it in the default theme but i prefer edit it in a different way.
I did some testings.
Perhaps if you edited the default theme you can download the code(style) in which you only modified so the file size will be small. I suppose this downloaded style is still based on the default theme so you shouldn't delete the default theme any way.
To change colours of the background you can generally change them via going to the CSS settings of your style.
