Hi Guys,

I have woken up this morning to my website www.activeangler.net and getting the 500 internal server error message (as below).

Can someone guide me as to what be the issue?

A 500 error, could mean lots of things, there is no easy way for us to trouble shoot that error.

Did you change anything, delete any files etc from your site?

Make sure all your files are there for the site.

Hi mate,

No, made no changes etc to the site at all.

Working at 10pm at night and then at 8:30am this morning - that error.

Strange hey?

If your 100% positive you removed nothing, make sure the host made no changes to the server.

I would guess it was something done on your site though, something edited, deleted etc.

Basically error 500 is more on scripting problem it could be you have a
invalid syntax or maybe the URL that you requested is not found. This
error can only be resolved by fixes to the Web server software. It is
not a server -side problem. It is up to the operators of your Web server
site to locate and analyze the logs which should give further
information about the error.

OK -thank you kindly.

I have placed a critical support ticket with my host to see if they can come up with anything.

Really appreciate your help and I will let you know the outcome.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

As Shazz advised I went to my HOST and they had advised the below:

This problem has now been resolved. It occurred during an upgrade to the operating system early this morning. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

Since it was down for aroun 7 hours, do you think that would be worthy of asking for some sort of free months hosting or something?

Thank you so much for the guidance, appreciated !!!!

Cheers

Ben

if the downtime of your hosting plan is not 100%, you will not reveice anything in return for the downtime... this is part of the deals you have to read and comprehend...

Depends on the TOS, check if they have an uptime guarantee.

I should really just be thankful as they have helped me out before with a few little things.

Just frustrating when you have paying people asking "why is the forum down"! oops!!

THANK YOU to all involved with this - appreciated.
