Country Display for Who's Online
What does this do?
It adds another column to your Who's Online display, with the country where the user is logging on from. You can choose either the name, the flag or both. You can also decide which users can see this information.
How about a quick summary of features?
Country display can be admin/moderator only, or available for everyone to see
You can display the country name, a flag, or both. You can use alternative flag sets if you want
Adds minimal overhead, no additional queries
Works on 3.6.6, 3.6.7 and should work for future versions as well. Will not work on versions prior to this. There is a manual file hack for previous versions here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1287749&postcount=79) (unsupported).
Country information is provided by the GLA (Geographic Location Awareness (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/misc.php?do=producthelp&pid=geo_location_awareness)) mod. Therefore updates to GLA will automatically provide improvements to any mod using GLA.
How do I install?
1. Install GLA first. You can find it here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/misc.php?do=producthelp&pid=geo_location_awareness). It's easy and takes a minute.
2. Download and install the enclosed .xml file via adminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product -> Import.
How do I configure it?
By default it will display only the country name to admin, super moderators and moderators. You can change this under vBulletin Options -> Who's Online Options. Be sure to check these options and click "save", even if you haven't changed anything. See attached screenshots.
Before posting on this thread:
If your issue concerns questions about country detection, the accuracy of the database, etc - please post your question on the GLA thread instead. Please only post issues here concerning the Who's Online display itself.
Please click install. Support requests from people who have not clicked install may not be answered.

Please note that this mod will not work if you are running vBulletin prior to 3.6.6, because these versions do not have the online_query hook.
The minimum version listed is 3.6.7 anyway, but just to make this absolutely clear, please don't ask for support or complain if this doesn't work and you are on an older version.
Other mods which use GLA may have different compatibility requirements, but the Who's Online mod will not work prior to 3.6.6.

Just a note to those of you who have installed. There is a suspected bug in vbulletin which I have posted here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22467). This affects people who don't specifically save their options after installing a mod. IN the case of this mod, unless you go into your who's online options and hit save, your country data is going to be displayed publicly. If you don't want that - hit save - even if the options look the way you want them to! I'm sorry about that, totally beyond my control, but easy to fix.
If in doubt - check.

That's a bit better. You've obviously confirmed that the table "ip2country" is in your database (I take it that's what you mean by country table). The next thing you should do is check your session table, and see if the country column has been added to the session table, and if it is populated.
On the other hand, you might be saying that country table is the column for "Country" on the who's online table itself (if this is what you meant the column rather than table is the word you wanted).
Although you've improved the amount of information you've supplied, please take the time to write clearly and in detail, and I might be able to help you more. In the meantime, I take it you noticed this part in the instructions:
Please click install. Support requests from people who have not clicked install may not be answered.

Am I correct in assuming that the displays don't update until someone changes what they're doing on the forums? ie: I just installed it, but only a smattering of the 100+ people listed in the Who's Online have a flag next to their name. But as I've reloaded over the last several minutes, I've noticed some of them filling in as they moved around the board.
Is that correct, or is something wrong?
Thanks!

Hi Joe, you are correct - someone has to actually load a page before the required code will fire up for the first time. You can't expect it to work for the sessions that have been inactive since before you installed it. :) Speaking of installed. [cough] forgotten to click install?

i'm using 3.6.4, so that may be the issue. the database is good and everything installed correctly as far as i can tell but there's no cell for the country data on the page:
<td class="alt1"><div class="smallfont">
<a href="online.php?do=resolveip&ipaddress=" id="resolveip_1" title="Resolve IP Address"></a>
</div></td>
Flag cell should be here.

Xil Ze - Bonus points for realising that this is a 3.6.7 mod, but you are running on 3.6.4.
Ok, this is the string I am targetting in both WHOSONLINE and whosonlinebit:
<if condition="$vboptions['showimicons']">
It looks like you have shown your HTML output there. If you can find the equivalent text in your whosonlinebit template and copy it here (with a couple of lines either side), I'll see what I can do about making it detect 3.6.4 as well. Please check only the standard template (not one you may have modified!). I don't have 3.6.4 so you'll have to send me an email, so I can email you back a version for you to test.

That sounds very strange. Try adding something to one of your templates just on a temporary basis: $session[country]. This should display YOUR country, for your own session (from GLA itself). The $userinfo variables belong to the who's online mod.
You can switch to PM's now if you like - that would help to keep all the boring stuff off the thread until we resolve this. If there's information that comes out that is useful, I'll update this thread.

That question pertain to GLA itself rather than this mod. But the answer is easy - read the instructions for GLA and that exact question is addressed.

Here's a copy of something I just edited into post #2:
Please note that this mod will not work if you are running vBulletin prior to 3.6.6, because these versions do not have the online_query hook.
The minimum version listed is 3.6.7 anyway, but just to make this absolutely clear, please don't ask for support or complain if this doesn't work and you are on an older version.
Other mods which use GLA may have different compatibility requirements, but the Who's Online mod will not work prior to 3.6.6.
Thanks to Xil Ze for letting me know about the lack of a hook in previous versions.
I'm not getting anything to display for some reason. Here's what I've done:
Installed GLA
Installed this hack
uploaded the hacks contents
ran both installers and made sure they were actually installed
turned on the options in the admincp
I'm running 3.6.7 PL1 so it should be compatible.
Did I overlook something?
mfyvie
07-07-2007, 11:01 PM
JD45 - sounds about right, except the step in the middle (upload) should be first. If the import file isn't there when you install GLA, there won't be any data for the location database. But it will warn you about this.
There is always a possibility that you have a customised template and that the replacement isn't working, but other steps to verify are:
Does your database have a table called ip2country, and is this table populated with data? (This means GLA is installed)
Look at your session table (in the database) - there should be three extra columns on it for country information. They should be populated, at least partially (unless you installed in only a few seconds before checking).
Manually hack in $session[country] somewhere into one of your templates. If GLA is running, this will show YOUR country when you load the page (then remove it again). Best way is to confirm via the session table. If the data is being written to the session table, then you should at least get it in $session[country]

Hey very nice stuff! this looks well done.
Does your database have a table called ip2country, and is this table populated with data? (This means GLA is installed)

Ok, I do have the table called ip2country and it is populated with data. There are the three extra columns in the session table and they do have data.
Now here's the odd part. I put in $session[country] in templates like the navbar, footer, forumhome etc and it never once showed up.
Any further ideas?

Hopefully you can help with my issue though I have read your concerns of using 3.6.6 or higher.
GLA seems to be working but something is wrong with the display of Who's online.
My last full install was 3.6.4, I patched it when the exploit was found and 3.6.5 came out.
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=221905
Patch: A second option is to download the patch files discussed in this thread and upload them to your web server, overwriting the existing files. The patch is available from the Members' Area patch page (http://members.vbulletin.com/patches.php) or you can find it attached to this thread.
Then I was out of town in May and came back when 3.6.7 was released. I saw 3.6.6 was out but didn't upgrade. Instead I just used the plugin patch of 3.6.7.
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=229950
Plugin: The plugin system built into vBulletin 3.6 allows the problem to be fixed with a simple plugin. The install file for this plugin is also attached to this thread and is the easiest way to fix the problem, as it does not require you to upload any files via FTP. The plugin will be automatically removed when you perform your next full upgrade. You can install the plugin by following the instructions here (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/import_product?manualversion=30607500).
Plugin File: vb_calendar366_xss_fix_plugin.xml
Now I know in the perfect world a full upgrade to 3.6.7 would be best but with the number of hacks I have that is a 5+ hour project! Either way I am protected from the exploits found by the vBulletin team.
Now on to my problem with this hack.
First I checked the session table and the three additional fields country_iso2/3 & country are being populated!
Secondly I added $session[country] to a template and it did return my country properly.
Clearly the GLA product is working with a patched 3.6.4 vBulletin.
My problem is the display of Who's Online as I mentioned above.
Please see the attached screenshot. The column is being added but there is no column title nor any country information. Also note if someone does have IM information it's being placed in the new title-less column, not the IM column.
I have only one hack that modifies the WHOSONLINE template and that is a spider hack which divides up guests & spiders.
Other plugins working with any other related online.php hooks are either online_location_process or ..._unknown only.
Thanks in advance.

Would love to see this coded to show flags on the forum home, who's online box inside of whats going on.
That could create a huge amount of clutter. That area is designed to take text - imagine what it would look like with 300 flags in there?

Ok, that's odd. If you have the session columns and they are populated, then it's working. Once that table is extended, those values are loaded automatically by vb. You may be putting it in a part of the template that doesn't display?
I just went to footer, and inserted $session[host] as the very first line. This displays the IP address and should work for you - it worked for me and has nothing at all to do with this mod.
Of course there's a remote possibility that your own session has the country field blank if it couldn't look up your address. Maybe you should double check the session table to find your own entry and check.

@TomasDR - Just because you've installed some plugins which fix security issues, this is NOT the same as running 3.6.6 or higher. As I said in that information the problem is that you are missing a hook, and this won't be fixed by security patches!
I also said that GLA will work fine (which you've just confirmed), but that Who's online won't work properly.
Because the hook is missing, the mod then has no way to add those extra fields into the query which is pulling the info from the database.
I'm going to update the .xml file so that it will refuse to install on anything less than 3.6.6. I doubt that will eliminate people complaining though.
I'm afraid you'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade. 3.6.6 contains around 20 new hooks and is the only version that will support the new blog and project tools products.

Well I definitely wasn't complaining and I realize patching is not the same as upgrading.
Along with updating your XML I recommend changing your description from 3.6x to something along the lines of 3.6.6+.
Works on both vBulletin 3.5x, 3.6x and should work for future versions as well.
Due to your location I realize English might not be your native language but you come off very crass & condescending, with your response to my post and others I have read. But most likely you don't care which hopefully will reflect on future installs of your product or the lack thereof.
Have a nice day!

Oops, I didn't realise it, but I did notice that I had 3.5 and 3.6 in the list of features for this mod - I must have meant that for GLA, and I've not changed it. Thanks for pointing that out.
Due to your location I realize English might not be your native language but you come off very crass & condescending, with your response to my post and others I have read. But most likely you don't care which hopefully will reflect on future installs of your product or the lack thereof.
No, English is my native language. However, there was nothing in my messages to you which was attempting to be crass and condescending. I realise that you made an honest mistake with the version number (assisted by my mistake in the description), and you did take the time to report more details and do a bit of homework. I'm writing a lot of mails supporting these mods (both public and private), so I don't always have time to pepper my posts with emoticons, especially at 3am in the morning, which is when I was writing to you. I think if you re-read my posts in that context, you may not get the same impression.
However, I do freely admit to writing snotty messages to people who just don't bother to read a single thing written in my instructions, etc. You'll find plenty of examples in every mod thread of people who are just wasting the mod author's time. So, no, I don't apologise about comments to those people!
Bear in mind that coders give their time for free to build these things. I don't even use this mod on my own board, I wrote it purely as an example to show one application for GLA. I also mark my mods as supported (and actually support them), but I do understand why many others coders mark their mods as unsupported, eventually the stupid questions from people who can't read get to them. At least one coder has told me that once he started charging for mods, it reduced the number of stupid questions he got to almost zero. Once people pay for something, they actually take the time to read instructions.
But like I said, sorry if this has been a misunderstanding in your case.

1. Upload the files and directories in the upload directory into your forums directory
2. Verify that the file ip-to-country.csv is now in your main forums directory
3. Install the enclosed .xml file via AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product. Remember to click overwrite if upgrading
4. After the mod is installed, delete the file ip-to-country.csv from your forums directory.
** Make sure you perform the steps in this sequence. If you don't, you won't get the correct data in your database.Did you edit the options and save?

You've just posted exactly the same thing on the GLA thread (the correct place for that issue), and I've answered you on that thread.
I've installed GLA and this program and everything is working fine except the flag pictures don't come up. I have them all installed under /images/misc/flags/ Is that where they're supposed to be??
Yes that's the correct location. Two possibilities - file permissions error. Is the flags directory accessible from the outside world? Try manually typing in the full URL to one of the flags. The other possibilities is the style variable that points to the misc directory is set somewhere else. If you are using multiple styles and have multiple "misc" directories, then you can put the flags directory in there (this allows you to show different sets of flags according to different styles).

Thanks for the advice, they were in the wrong misc directory - I have a custom skin and when I moved the flags directory into the misc file for that skin it works great!! Thank you very much for your prompt response:up:

@Ahsin1 - this is now the third time you've pasted exactly the same post. If you continue to do this, I will ignore you. I've already given you a solution (i.e. disable product and then follow the instructions) on the GLA thread, which is the correct thread.
This thread is for discussion of the who's online hack.

Very nice add on! I just installed it and it works great, except that there are one of two that do not show including mine! I am using comcast isp in florida, not sure why it does not show. I have it set to show flag and country. Right now there are 20 online and all show except mine and one other. I am the super admin for my board, not sure if that has something to do with it. Any ideas?

That's an issue concerning GLA itself, rather than this mod. But if you look in the instructions for GLA you'll find the link to the site that provides the database. It's just bad luck that your ISP isn't in it.
I put $session[host] in the first line of the footer and it did show up. I put $session[country] and nothing showed up.
I checked the session table again, and there is a country being shown for each session listed.
I'm at a loss..
It seems all the data is there, I just can't get it to display.

What if you do add this to a template?
<img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/flags/$session[country_iso2].png" alt="$session[country]" />
Look at www.318ti.org/forum/
Do you see the US flag in the lower right of the header banner?

All I can think of is that your session isn't matching. Post your current IP or PM it to me and I'll look it up to see if it is matching. I presume also you are running on 3.6.7.

OK. I figured if it showed on my site the problem was with your installation.
The fact that it is not showing up then has more to do with your ip address as you both figured.
I was just trying to rule out the installation.

I've installed GLA and this program and everything is working fine except the flag pictures don't come up. I have them all installed under /images/misc/flags/ Is that where they're supposed to be??I've got a similar problem here. It doesn't show flag pictures but only country names, even if I have selected the "Display Country Flag" option.
Try manually typing in the full URL to one of the flags.

I did and I can see them.I use only custom style. No others are installed.
If you have a custom style then your stylevar might be pointed to a different directory than images/misc - the previous person had the same problem.
Styles and Templates -> (for the right style) Style Vars -> Scroll down to Miscellaneous Images Folder.
On the default installation this is set to "images/misc", which is where you put your flags. If your style has a different location for this directory, then you must move your flags there instead.

Then the most likely possibility is that the automatic template edits were not able to work due to customisations you've made on WHOSONLINE or whosonlinebit templates (very likely if you have a heavily customised style).
However, if your country names are showing up, then it's obviously managed to make these changes.
The only thing you can do now to examine the source of the page (i.e. check the HTML output) for the who's online display. Each cell should contain something like this:
<td class="alt1"><img title="Switzerland" style="margin-right: 3px;" src="images/misc/flags/ch.png" alt="Switzerland">Switzerland</td>You should see the img tag in there, along with the relative path (relative to your forum directory) for the image. Is the problem that the img tag is missing from this cell, or that the path to the image is somehow wrong? If this doesn't resolve the problem, then please paste in just the cell (as I have done) for your page.

Ok, then based on what you've written, I assembled a URL which *should* display your image directly -
http://www.malinoiscanary.gr/forum/images/misc/flags/gr.png
However, it doesn't - this URL just brings up some more of your forum, not the image itself. You said when you put the URL in directly it worked? Which URL did you put in to make it work?

Ok this is what happened...
The size of all the png files after bz.png in \forum\images\misc\flags dir was 0 bytes for some reason. So, I reupload the \images\misc\flags dir and the prob solved.
You said when you put the URL in directly it worked? Which URL did you put in to make it work?I was checking the first 5-6 files (ad.png, ae.png...) and that is why it was working for me.

Hi.
I really like this mod and installed it. It worked for 2 hours after installation and then suddenly the complete Country category doesnt show up anymore.
The previous installation went without a problem.
Just to be sure, I reinstalled followed all the steps in the correct order but still nothing. My Whois online doesnt show anything other then the normal stuff.
Really strange.
I am using custom style and this mod from Dream for the whois online: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=123158
But this shouldnt really be a problem right? it worked before.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks.

Sounds very strange. I would go through the various steps that people have used for troubleshooting for both this mod and GLA. Remember that this mod relies on GLA - if something isn't working there, then this mod won't work either. Have a scan through both this thread and the GLA thread and you should be able to narrow down where the problem lies. But as a first step I would double check your settings in the admincp, and click save, even if the settings appear to be the way you want them (there is a bug in vbulletin which can sometimes show you different settings than there really are)

Fabian,
If you've followed all the steps in this and the other thread then you'd have a pretty good idea about WHICH part isn't working. For example - is GLA functioning correctly? Were you able to get any information showing after a manual template edit, is the session table populated?
You say you've tried everything that you can think of - "but it just doesn't work". The question is, which parts worked, and which parts didn't - or are you saying that GLA has completely failed and NONE of it is working? I'd find that a bit difficult to understand.

Great hack, thanks for sharing! :)
For people who have 3.6.x version (3.6.0 to 3.6.6) which is not compatible with this pluggin and who don't mind hacking .php code here is how you can install this hack:
Edit online.php, find:
$allusers = $db->query_read_slave("
SELECT user.username, session.useragent, session.location, session.lastactivity, user.userid, user.options, session.host, session.badlocation, session.incalendar, user.aim, user.icq, user.msn, user.yahoo, user.skype,
IF(displaygroupid=0, user.usergroupid, displaygroupid) AS displaygroupid, infractiongroupid
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "session AS session
". iif($vbulletin->options['WOLguests'], " LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user USING (userid) ", ", " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user") ."
WHERE session.lastactivity > $datecut
". iif(!$vbulletin->options['WOLguests'], " AND session.userid = user.userid", "") ."
ORDER BY $sqlsort $sortorder
");
REPLACE IT AS:
// Logician modified Hack : Country display for who's online
$hook_query_fields = $hook_query_joins = $hook_query_where = '';
$hook_query_fields = ', session.country, session.country_iso2, session.country_iso3';
$allusers = $db->query_read_slave("
SELECT user.username, session.useragent, session.location, session.lastactivity, user.userid, user.options, session.host, session.badlocation, session.incalendar, user.aim, user.icq, user.msn, user.yahoo, user.skype,
IF(displaygroupid=0, user.usergroupid, displaygroupid) AS displaygroupid, infractiongroupid
$hook_query_fields
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "session AS session
". iif($vbulletin->options['WOLguests'], " LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user USING (userid) ", ", " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user") ."
$hook_query_joins
WHERE session.lastactivity > $datecut
". iif(!$vbulletin->options['WOLguests'], " AND session.userid = user.userid", "") ."
$hook_query_where
ORDER BY $sqlsort $sortorder
");
// Logician modified Hack : Country display for who's online
Upload online.php hack to server and then import the ATTACHED product.
I've tested with vb 3.6.2 and it is working fine if installed as described here. Yet I don't have time to give support for this, sorry about it if it does not work for you. If you have 3.6.7 or above, please dont apply my instructions, use original hack instead!

Hey
First of all I must say great support here, keep up the good work mfyvie - we really appreciate your efforts! And a great plug-in too, very informative (at least for me).
However, I'm having a little problem...I've installed the plug in and GLA and verified that ip2country table exists in my database, and my session table has "country" and I believe "country_is1" and "country_is2" ( I may be mistaken a bit about the country_is1 and is2, it's something like that you probably know).
However there is no table in who's online for "Country/flag". Do you know what the issue could be? Here are screenshots:
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/6687/img1hn9.gif
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6413/img1pz7.gif
To clarify, there has been user activity after the plug-in was installed.
Interestingly enough, when I enable "Resolve IP Address" option then I do see a new table created which resolves their IP.
Thanks !
mfyvie

winpro19, based on what you've told me and the screenshots you've provided, it sounds to me like you've disabled the product "Country display for who's online.". Please go to the products list and confirm that this product is not disabled. Then go to the plugin lists and scroll down until you see the plugins for this product - there should be three of them, and they all should be enabled.
The automatic template changes that are done are very simple, so simple in fact that I didn't think it was necessary to post the manual template changes. However, the string that it is trying to match in the WHOSONLINE and whosonlinebit templates is as follows:
<if condition="$vboptions['showimicons']">
Please confirm that this exact text is in both those templates. Even people with heavily modified templates should have that text, and these templates haven't changed since v3.6.0. If that text is there, the automatic template changes should match it and replace it, then a column should appear (providing all the options are set to yes, as your screenshot shows)

That's a little trickier (to do properly), but the idea is that now any developer can easily do this (you might have seen me saying exactly the same thing earlier in the thread). That's the whole point of GLA - to enable others to easily build country-aware applications.

country table is there but no flag no country name on WOL.
In admincp is set the show... again there is created "COUNTRY" in WOL
but no FLAG no COUNTRYNAME.
installed exact like .txt.
I've the same problem. I checked, the table ip2country exists in database and it is populated/installed correctly but for some reasons in WOL the column "Country" is created but no flag or country name. I suppose it is getting null values when it go and look for in table and hence no value is displayed in "country" column in WOL.
I just checked session table in database and noticed that for some sessionhash it doesn't have country_iso2, country_iso3, and country. so i guess this is the reason why it gets null values
Is there a way to fix this problem? Thanking in advance!

It takes some time after you first install it for new sessions to be established (like 15-30 minutes). Not every IP will be recognised, but there should be around 98%. If you have some sessions in the session table coming up with the country name, then it should work. You should have at least some countries showing up in the who's online list? Have you checked all the pages? Or are you saying that you have a country column, but it is totally empty? I presume you also checked your WOL settings in adminCP and clicked on save (even if you didn't need to, this is a bug in VB)

I looked at your attachment, but most of it was blanked out.
I can't help it if there is a user that shows as localhost - this has nothing to do with this mod - it would have showed as localhost without this mod anyway.
Your users may not be showing up with a country because you've only just installed this mod and haven't given it enough time to populate the session table. Or maybe these addresses aren't found in the database (which is an issue for the database, rather than this hack).

Even if the database supported it (which it doesn't), I think you'd have a huge problem getting accurate information since providers across the US may mix up their IP ranges. If you wanted to buy a commercial database you might be able to do it, but I'm not sure.

Hallo ...
Installed everything like instructions told me. VBulletin Version 3.6.7.
Database is OK. GLA Test is OK. Session table populated.
No display in Whosonline. I only see a new column "country" - no values for members.
Checked templates "WHOSONLINE" and "whosonlinebit" -
there are no modifications made (should be there after INSTALL I think ?)
If I add manually following code in "whosonlinebit":
<if condition="$show['countryname'] OR $show['countryflag']">
<td class="alt1">
<img style="margin-right: 3px" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/flags/$userinfo[country_iso2].png" alt="$userinfo[country]">$userinfo[country_iso2]

only a read cross is displayed. It seems that userinfo for "country_iso2" and "country" do
not have a valuable result. What?s wrong ?
Help please.

Hi Volker,
You said that the session table to populated? The GLA test (if I remember correcly) will tell you how many of the current users have had their country set, and how many have not. What do these numbers say?
If you can see a country column, then you don't need to do any template edits, they should be happening automatically. I'd say the most likely cause is you've installed it straight away and are expecting instant results - it could take up to 15 minutes. It could also be that the addresses you were looking at where not found in the database - use the test script and look some of them up and see what happens.
I'd say look more closely at your session table and at the GLA test script again.
Hello again ...
I just checked the GLA test script again, it says:
vBulletin session checks
Testing to see of the our session variable, $vbulletin->session->vars['country'] is set: OK - set (Germany)
Testing to see of the our session variable, $vbulletin->session->vars['country_iso2'] is set: OK - set (de)
Testing to see of the our session variable, $vbulletin->session->vars['country_iso3'] is set: OK - set (deu)
Number of current sessions updated for GLA: OK - 12 of 12
Number of sessions checked by GLA where country was found: 12 of 12
Number of sessions checked by GLA where country was not found: 0 of 12
Flag checks
Flag files must be uploaded not only for the default style, but for all other styles installed. Now checking all styles:
Style: Default Style
Testing to see if the flag from country "ad" is present: OK - Flag file found in correct directory
Testing to see if the flag from country "zw" is present: OK - Flag file found in correct directory
Visual check - two flags should be visible:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations - all functions from GLA are working perfectly.
I installed the mod SOME HOURS ago ...

OK, then according to that you have 12/12 sessions where the sessions were assigned to countries - if you look into the session table you should see that the country has been assigned to these sessions (please check this).
If the session table really does contain the country names, then you should not be seeing a blank column for the country in who's online. If you'd like to PM me an admin login I can take a look. But please reverse any manual template edits you did - they should not be needed. There were some issues right in the beginning with this mod, but I believe that they've all been worked out now, so I'm curious as to why you get this result.
Hello Mark ...

OK - THE MOD WORKS

I'm sorry, I don't understand your post. Could you please be more specific? What do you mean by no queries? Which post is this a reference to? And you say you've seen other boards that have the flag on the postbit? vbulletin systems? Are you saying that this hack already exists? If so, can you post some links? I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say here...
Uuuh! some humor :rolleyes:
-This hack adds additional queries or not?
- About the hack, sure I read in a vBulletin system about one hack, but many bad reviews made turn my head off... let me remember...

Interesting idea about humour you have...
If you look at the feature list at the top of this page you'll see the words "no additional queries".

That hack you linked above is a totally different thing - it requires users to supply their country as part as their profile information. GLA operates on their IP address and performs its functions automatically.

Check the GLA thread - it's a GLA issue since not every IP address is found in the database.

Ok, maybe I didn't make myself clear - go to the GLA thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/misc.php?do=producthelp&pid=geo_location_awareness). Read that thread, and find the answer to your issue there.

I doubt very much that you did - why? Because you are asking me another question that I already answered on the GLA thread. I have already spoken about updates, along with a copy of a new database, and discussion on the timetable. All on the GLA thread. If you have specific questions about any posts on the GLA thread - please ask them THERE, not HERE. This thread is for issues concerning the Who's Online mod, not functions provided by GLA.

I just installed this a moment ago with GLA as mentioned. Problem is that it is only displaying my own IP's country name and flag in the country column, plus one other member and one guest. I enabled everything in who's online admin area and re-saved my admin group permissions, still didn't fix it. I have about 20 users logged in as well, plus 30-40 guests.

Thanks!
Joe
Ok, sorry this answered my previous question :)

It didn't really answer mine. I've been online at work which is a different city and different internet, and now at home, and my flag never shows up. lol
I don't get it, it's like Colorado, Denver. How could that not be in the database?
Anyways do you suggest adding the proper IP block or what do I do? Reinstall?

Firstly, My Condolances to the coders's family. :(
I am running 3.6.8 PL2 And it is NOT working for me. i am not seeing anything at all. :(
Now, I have read right through this thread and the only thing that I can't find is the following that is supposed to be WHOSONLINE and whosonlinebit:
<if condition="$vboptions['showimicons']">
Not even with a trailing '</if>
I have followed the instructions to the. 'Tee', even tried a second time to make sure. But still, it didn't work for me.
The following are screen shots to show that I have checked all possible avenues, BEFORE posting for help....
