Has every one seen the announcement which states it is against the sites Ts & Cs to advertise your services in either the post or your sig.
Now I have no problem with that but I did notice the irony in the announcement when looking at the posters little postbit part.
have a gleg at the attachment or just read the announcement

While I agree, this is the place for general un-important discussion. You should have posted here:

Good catch!
Actually, that's a "biography" .. something that should not display in announcement. I removed the biography part of it until I update the announcement postbit.
thank you

Well technically that is neither a post or a signature - it's because the announcement postbit displays a line from your member profile and Joe has information in his profile saying who he is, and that he is available for custom work. :)
Just to clear up any misunderstandings - all members are permitted to let others know they do custom work (or not) in their signature, and members are also allowed simple links in their signatures - what isn't allowed is 'promotional language'. The staff will decide if language is promotional or not (quoting prices is an example of something not allowed).
The message is mainly prompted by the recent spate of members advertising their services in the disguise of replying to questions (mainly hosting services).
Edit: Joe already spotted the postbit problem. :)

Nice to see you weren't snotty or arrogant about being caught, Princeton. Makes for a better, kinder community.:)

It would be really handy if there was a list somewhere of people willing to do paid work, grouped by what kind of work. (Install mods, graphics, and so on.) I've been digging through signatures for two days now trying to find the one I ran across awhile back with "will install Mods and Hacks."

Would be simplier to provide a userfield in the profile so people can enter details about their availability of providing custom work, or their company's details... ya know you can now add categories for userfields, and they are seperate per categories... people who do not have anything to enter in these cats have nothing displayed in their profile...
anyway... my 2cents!

It takes a big man to admit when they are in the wrong. I would say that this is a grey area issue. Within the rules and the area his advert was Princeton could have left his ad because it's in his bio. Cheers to him for being the bigger man, we should all give him some credit instead of trying to find fault.

I don't bob round here much anymore simply because my plate is pretty full. I did see the OP and I did find it amusing, but figured it was some minor flub up (like forgetting to capitalise the first letter in a sentence).
I couldn't agree with Roms more. It was an oversight because of the layout. It wasn't because he was saying "I can but you can't". I don't know any of the politics going on around here (real or imagined) however I really think it is petty to try and make an issue out of it.
