Integrating a photo gallery into a thread

If you have lets say a car discussion going on, and someone links 5 - 10 images of his car to the thread with descriptions, is there anyway to just upload them to a gallery and have them all show on the same thread? I know its kind of confusing, but I dont want someone opening a post and having to scroll down through tons of pictures. Just wondering if there is any kind of system that can somehow merge them into a gallery and still contain them within the post.

why not just have links to the pictures?.

You can have links to the pictures and have them displayed on the thread, but after like 3 pictures you have to start scrolling and scrolling.
If you have links linking out, then you have to click each one individually which gets annoying too.

Any other suggestions?

make a slide show and upload to the server, then link

Maybe use an image resizer and resize all pics in posts down to a thumbnail size?
