How can I do this? (uploaded image thumbnail near topics in forums)

I want to have small thumbnails of uploaded images (attachments or imageshack links etc.) near topics..

for example , I have a forum named as gallery , and when I look at the topics I want to see the image inside the topic as a thumbnail near the topic name..by this way users can see whats inside before clicking the topic itself..
