Usergroups permissions.

Usergroups - Usergroup Manager - select usergroup to edit - General Permissions - Show edited by note on edited messages?

Are you sure you are setting it for the proper usergroup? It works well on my board.

Try rebuilding the cache. (Admin CP > Maintenance)
