YouTube Video Avatars for specified usergroups

[4x4 Mecca]

Hello, what this mod does is allows users to have a "Video Avatar" if they are a member of the usergroup you specify.

Installation instructions are attached. See screen shots below to get an idea of what it looks like.

UPDATE! I recorded a video of me installing it on a blank board. The video should help anyone having trouble. There are a couple extra things like me closing my password manager that you should ignore, but the video will show you what to do.

You can change the height and width of the video by changing the attributes in the code.

It requires one template edit, 2 if you use both postbit styles.
It requires one profile field.

Instructions are good - but It's not showing correctly on regular postbit :(

seems the vid avatar is not aligned with the rest...
I'm sure it's a simple html issue - just don't wanna fool with it now...

yes! it worked perfectly!! i love it....!!! i love it a lot... i think the only problem will be something out the hands of the coder of this wonderful hack.....

when the publisher of the youtube video decides to pull the vid... you have to go hunt for another....

but this is an awesome addition and option for forum members to have and better express their personalities.....

i got it working thanks for a great mod!!

1 problem i change the array values for a custom usergroup called video avatars (field 13) i only want this usergroup to have video avatars.

the problem i get is when i add myself as a secondary user to that group the video avatar doesnt work is there some special priviledges you need to use when making the usergroup?? i just based it on the registered users group!!

do you follow what i am saying?
your help would be appreciated

also any way of making the video avatars show on all the sections where the avatar's arefo example vbadvanced ortal user cp etc etc

so if you are in the usergroup for video avatars all instances of your avatar become the video avatar not just the postbit/postbit_legacy

in your user manager there is an option to allow additional usergroups

i made a video avatar usergroup and added it to me as a aditional user group but this didnt work(see Screen Shot)

would i have to make up another user group for video avatars enabled for each group i want it to be effective on eg 1 for admin 1 for moderators 1 for registered users or could i do it using this method with alterations in the template change??

i hope this is clear as i love this mod and want to restrict the use to people in the video avatars group only

I have one question though...
Is there a way to restrict Video Avatars to only users with a certain number of post or greater?
Example: User1 reaches 100 post then Video Avatars show. User2 with less than 100 post his video avatar does not show.

couldnt you do this with usergroups??

add a new promotion and set it so that after the user posts 100 times then they're upgraded to a new usergroup then edit the template postbit + postbit_legacy

did you create the profile field and change the template edit field to corresponde with the profile field you just made?

did you type in just the end part of the youtube address in the profile fied of your forum not the whole address to the video?

for example if the address is:

only enter

if you've done all this and still doesnt work then follow the instructions given again it took me 3 attempts to get it working lol

I'm new to installing mods, in fact this my second. I put both sets of code in both postbit and postbit_legacy, edited the FieldXX... I'm not getting the option in my User CP.

Just a few things. The avatar isn't centered. It's fine if you have a YouTube video, but my user's avatar are left-aligned. It looks like crap. Anyway to fix that?

And its not viewable in your profile or the homepage, only in threads. Not that big of a deal.

It kinda works on my site. I installed it and checked out my new avatar and it looked nice. The problem is that nobody elses avatar shows up anymore, and I've changed the usergroup to only include admin.

The only difference I can think of is that the others have several secondary usergroups (including video avatar), whereas I only have the video avatar one.

Weird thing is, it's working perfectly in their profiles. Just not the postbit. And the conditionals appear to be the same in both.

This should be what is needed for all usergroups to show it.... edit the first array for primary usergroup numbers, and the second array for secondary usergroup numbers.

Yes, the way this is designed to work is allow only the usergroups you want to have video avatars, but ALL usergroups, even unregistered should be able to see it.

Enter in the Usergroup IDs that you want to have access to it.
If I understand this correctly then that will allow full access to this function. I too want to use this for supporters. Meaning that I want everyone to see that supporters can have this cool avatar, while non-supporters can see it, but can not add Youtube video as their avatar.

I add the Code in navbar t. too but dont work.
If i visit a user-profil page it works but i see the Video from the User in the Navbar not my Video.

You have the Usergroups ID Numbers set to the same ones that come in the example. Do you actually have user groups that use those numbers? Because your supposed to set those to the ID Numbers of the User Groups you want it to work for.

Also, just to make things easier, you might want to use [CODE], [PHP] or [HTML] tags next time. Makes it easier to read. ;)

This line is your problem.

You weren't supposed to change $post['usergroupid']. If you want User Group ID 23 to be the only one to use these avatars, then it should look like this.

You select the user groups you want to use this by putting their ID number in the $array(), separating multiple ID numbers with a comma.

There really shouldn't be any reason it would do that. The permission array is only for those who can use the avatars, not see it. It could be possible that you had your if conditionals set up wrong, maybe wrapping it inside one farther up the code block.

If I had that wrong then it wouldnt work at all. But this way I see it when Iam logged into my admin account but when I log into my regular members account it doesn't show up.

Not necessarily. If you have it wrapped in a conditional that's permission based, then that would cause the same effect. I'm speculating of course. Post your template code like the others did and we may be able to see what's causing it. Often times its something small like a character out of place.

I was getting the same error as you so I switched from:

with the respective closing tag </td> and it works fine.

Just a few things. The avatar isn't centered. It's fine if you have a YouTube video, but my user's avatar are left-aligned. It looks like crap. Anyway to fix that?

And its not viewable in your profile or the homepage, only in threads. Not that big of a deal.

Man it is stil working perfect except the LEFT aligned problem. I have the same problem with you.. did you find any solution to center all avatars ?

It messes up the template in that it makes another column to the right of the postbit, and places all the user info fields above the first postbit, it's probably just a small table error

There's my postbit_legacy, vb 3.7

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be working. The code is exactly the same to replace. What we really need to see is the edited postbit code what wasn't working for you, so we could trroubleshoot what was wrong with it.

This works fine for 3.7.3 in postbit with AzH code.

I have a quibble tho, Besides the fact it doesnt autoplay.

I set it for VIP and Mods only, but there is NO option to either have an Avatar or the Video Avatar.

You can only have it as Video Avatar only.
