This mod will more than likely work in other versions of vB but was only coded and tested on vBulletin 3.6.4 and 3.6.7

If you're concerned about liability and want to make it known that you do not take responsibility for a user visiting another member's website on your forums, you can perform this simple little template modification. It's a nice little add-on and can really help you in the long run. :)

Installation:

1) Open your MEMBERINFO template and...

FIND THIS CODE:
<a href="$userinfo[homepage]" target="_blank" dir="ltr">$userinfo[homepage]</a>

REPLACE WITH:
<!-- Pop-Up Warning Before Visiting Member's Homepage by 713JunctionP -->
<a href="$userinfo[homepage]" onClick="return confirm('The link you are trying to access may not be a part of the $vboptions network. Click OK if you wish to trust this member and visit their website anyway. Otherwise, click CANCEL to halt visitng this members website.')" target="_blank" dir="ltr">$userinfo[homepage]</a>
<!-- / Pop-Up Warning Before Visiting Member's Homepage by 713JunctionP -->

[B]*NOTE: If anyone can get this working in the postbit, postbit_legacy and memberlist templates, please post up.
I will add it to this mod and give credit where credit is due. Thanks!

This mod works in Firefox and Internet Explorer. Others have not yet been tested.

You are free to use this mod however you'd like, but please keep the copyright/credit phrase intact in the code. That's all I ask. :up:

PLEASE REMEMBER TO CLICK INSTALLED (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=installhack&threadid=150471) IF YOU USE THIS MOD!

Yeah, and the reason why I released this version of it was because the "other" warning system hack did not give you a "Cancel" option. This, on the other hand, does. Plus, it needed to sound a wee bit more professional. :up:

yeah, it really does kinda relieve some of the "stress" and "liability" from users trying to blame the site admins/owner of forums (depending on how big a website is, it could happen).

OF ALL the cool modifications in the template section I have chosen yours that is located on the 10th page lol. I have 8 templates and I don't just choose a modification I like, I think of stuff the members need. I have installed your modification on ALL 8 of my styles. This is the first template modification I have used. My members have been crazy lately and clicking other members links and blaming me for the content their links hold and some of them have just clicked the links without even looking at them. Now they can be reminded that not all of the links are safe. Thanks.

My guess is javascript isn't enabled.

OK, I thought it might be good to make this work for 3.7 as well (because it didn't).

Here is how to do it:

In the template 'memberinfo_block_contactinfo'

FIND THIS CODE:

<a href="$prepared[homepage]" target="_blank">$prepared[homepage]</a>

REPLACE WITH:

<!-- Pop-Up Warning Before Visiting Member's Homepage by 713JunctionP -->
<a href="$prepared[homepage]" onClick="return confirm('The link you are trying to access may not be a part of the $vboptions[bbtitle] network. Click OK if you wish to trust this member and visit their website anyway. Otherwise, click CANCEL to halt visitng this members website.')" target="_blank" dir="ltr">$prepared[homepage]</a>

Is there anyway to get this to work with the threads "Visit Users Homepage" from the drop down that appears when you click the users name in a post?

I've been working on that. It appears that there is a conflict with the two Javascripts being used together. :(
