What does this Mod do?

This is a customizable recruitment form for use with World of Warcraft. It has full customizations and style features built in via vboptions. There are no form edits, template edits, etc. of any kind necessary.

You will essentially need to perform:

Ability to turn on/off every section and every question (other than generic character)

Fully integrated Character Information Section

Class, level, race, attunements, keys, heroics, gear, talents, resists, professions, days played
2 extra custom questions for CI section
Fully integrated Personal Information Section
Gender, Age, timezone, referrals, active play times, special questions, personality and disposition, previous guild information, summary sections
2 extra custom questions for PI section
Ability to debug any form questions and answers.
Fully integrated via your own website style and active inherits that style.
More than 40 questions to choose and select from.
Able to set redirects to forums, threadids, PMs, email.
Able to integrate polls and decide on public/private views.

Import the product file through your admincp.
Go into your vboptions section and you will find 3 sections. I will briefly outline them below:Elricstorm's World of Warcraft Configuration Settings

Houses all of the generic settings for your form, including name, summary options, redirect options, and many more features.Elricstorm's World of Warcraft Form Settings

Houses one font, and 4 color header sets that you can color code.Once finished, remember to write down whatever name you set in the configuration setting for your "What is the default URL for your form?". The default is "wow_form". In order to access your form you need to set a URL link to:

.. with the ending only changing if you decide to change this configuration setting in vboptions.

All of the vboptions have full title/descriptions so understanding what they do and how to work them should be a piece of cake, even for the most novice of users. If, however, you still have questions or concerns, please direct them here. Please remember that I only provide support for those that click "INSTALL".

On the next version release, I will be moving all of the current non-vboption editable questions to vbphrases so that european communities can change the language. This will include headers and template information. I just wanted to get the addon up there for EN communities. EU communities are next. :)

Only bugs I've found are that if you use optional question 3 and 4 it's giving me the answers from 1 & 2, also there's a bit of code showing through at the top and bottom.

Thanks for the catch on the optional questions. I just double checked and I did accidentally plug in the answer variables for those two questions. I'll fix that in the next version. As for the code:

That has nothing to do with code "within" the product, that's vbulletin calling a template. Those are html commenting open and closed tags used by vbulletin when it says it's calling a template file. If you go into the view source on that recruitment application you will see vbulletin calling other templates. It might be an option or style problem. This does not happen on either my test or main site.

In otherwords, it's not a product problem but most likely an option or style problem on your end.

Okay, let's start with the basics.

First, go to vboptions > elricstorm's world of warcraft configuration settings >

..

Find the following two options:

Turn on Usergroup Permissions (if this is set to 1 then you have permissions enabled)

If set to 1, then find:

Enter usergroup numbers able to access this form.

The usergroup numbers are very important if you have this option turned on. To find usergroup numbers you simply do the following:

Go to admincp>usergroups>usergroup manager.

To the far right of each usergroup there is an ID number. Write down the ID numbers of the groups you "want" to be able to access this form. Enter them into your 'Enter usergroup numbers able to access this form' line, separating them with commas.

Please note, do not make the common mistake that many others do with usergroups and that is they move a user completely out of "registered" and into a special custom group and assume they are in the "registered" group. If you go to any of your users and you see that their main group is "Officer" and then you see that they are in some more special groups, then this means you need to enable the officer group to be able to use the form. I hope that makes sense. Most usergroup issues can be avoided if people leave the main group as "registered" and then add people to custom groups from there.

However, this is an easy customizable feature. Let me know if that helps.

Remember, if you toggle this on, and you set it to specific permission usergroups, then those persons have to be logged in to access the form.

Also, in the future, if you want further assistance you need to click on installed. I only support people that install the product.

Edit: going to add a detailed example. :)

Registered Users = ID 2
Administrators = ID 6
Moderators = ID 7

Let's say you have these three groups set to enabled. What this means is anyone that is "registered", or an administrator or a moderator can access the form. Now, let's say you have some custom groups:

Officer = ID 13
Class Leader = ID 14
Guild Member = ID 15

The safe thing to do is to enable all of these groups doing:

2,6,7,13,14,15 in the usergroup box in the vboptions section

What I was suggesting above is that you may have moved your users to a custom group by taking them out of the registered group, and accidentally assumed they were still registered due to some sort of progression. This was the common mistake I was referring to. And, the only reason I mention it is because "I did it myself!" :)

I saw that you edited your other post. So did you solve your issue? And, yes, I know there are a ton of toggle on/off features. Normally I provide a .chm file of some sort so that everyone can get a greater idea of the product and what you can do with it. I'll try to do that in an upcoming release.

Right now I'm just working on fixing two question issues and the phrasing. Once that's done, I'll update to version 1.0.1.

This was precisely the reason why I created it in the first place. I wanted to cut my site administration duties down a bit and I couldn't expect non-coders to be able to change the form.

And, this is going to be even more customizable as I upgrade it. This is just the starter product. :)

No, it's only been tested in 3.6.7 and I did not put any dependencies on it except I believe for 3.6.0. I'd have to check again. It could be used for other versions, I'm almost certain of it. However, I've only tested with the latest version. I changed it to 3.6.x so people won't get confused.

the reason i ask is the php version that my host is running does not meet the requirements of vb 3.6.x yet and they are unwilling to update it at this time. so i'm stuck using vb 3.5.7 and i really would like to use both this mod and your calendar mod but it gives me errors when trying to import the xml files.

is there a way to get those 2 mods to work with vb 3.5.7?? plz? :(

I'm sorry mate, I only work with 3.6.0 - 3.6.7 and am not familiar with the coding standards in 3.5.x or where the differences may be. I wish I could be more help to you but that's where I placed the dependency at 3.6.0 as a minimum version I support. There are a lot of new addons/mods for warcraft, but almost all of them will be 3.6.x related. I would suggest creating a test board and attempt updating to 3.6.x.

IMO, it's worth the effort. I originally thought I was going to have a lot of problems upgrading, but it was pretty easily. I even created a tutorial (see my signature) on how to use araxis merge. You can use that software to cross-compare and update your board in a fairly easily amount of time.

That's my suggestion anyways.

sorry for my english.I have vB 3.6.7 and it did the same thing to me, so I thought I would upload the XML file to ./includes/xml/ after the 3rd attempt to upload from my computer. Suprisingly enough, after I uploaded the XML to that directory, it showed up on the list of mods installed through the Plugin Manager. The options showed up at the bottom of vBulletin Options in the Control Panel.

I dont' know what difference it made to upload it to that directory, because I never added it through the plugin manager after doing so. But, none-the-less, it works =) Hope that helps.

As stated above, if you are having some type of product import issue, just manually upload the xml file to your vbulletin xml directory.

Thanks for pointing this out - I'll fix it in the next release. There are two templates that are created (wow_form, and wow_formanswers). One is the questions template and the other is an answers template. You can edit the answers template to change how it appears to you if you want in there.

I'll think about this one. It would involve a major overhaul of the product as well as some switch/cases. However, it's still a very good idea nonetheless.

It's all based on permissions.

The forumid you are using for the application post is the key here. If that forum allows "guests" to make polls, make posts, etc. then it shouldn't be an issue. You mentioned that it all happens when you set poll options on. So, the first thing you should do is check to see if that forumid you are using has permissions set to allow guests to make/create polls.

The forumid you are using for the application post is the key here. If that forum allows "guests" to make polls, make posts, etc. then it shouldn't be an issue. You mentioned that it all happens when you set poll options on. So, the first thing you should do is check to see if that forumid you are using has permissions set to allow guests to make/create polls.

What I'm saying here is simple: Permissions are perfectly fine.

Like I said, there is a flat out error if the user is a guest (I apologize for not posting the exact error before, lack of foresight there, sorry. I'll get the error tonight and post it for you). But they can post in that forum on their own, and add a poll...

Thanks for attempting a verification of the problem given. I do appreciate that you want to make sure the basics are followed first, but usually I check to see if the user asking for assistance is indeed a nub, or if they just might have a couple of brain cells left.

I may have been unclear:
they get a confirmation that the app has been sent, but the thread never gets writtenThis happens when I turn off the polling option. In other words, the system says, "yes, I got the submission", but nothing gets posted UNLESS the user is logged in, even though, in the permissions for that forum they can post a thread (verified as me posting under guest (not logged in)). So what you end up with is a guest user who thinks their application was posted, and yet it was not because the data went into never never land. If polling is turned on then I get the errors. Again, I'll post specifics when I get home.

The answer is actually quite interesting and I'm glad you posted the problem. It will give others a solution to the problem you are experiencing.

Because you are using guests, you most likely have "image verification" set on and to some type of GD etc. If you go into your vboptions and to image options, and set this value to "none" - you will no longer have the issue.

Otherwise, the form has no idea or clue how to pass image verification. Keep in mind that while I have allowed the ability for all groups to use the form, turning off image verification would just create the possibility that someone could spam your board.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've been looking for where it's located to take it out but i can't find it. View souce shows it as being written like this: &lt;!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: wow_formanswers --&gt; which would make it visible. I'm just not sure where to start.

I had that too. You need to add in a closing tag after the old world attunements in the templet then put a new starting one in the BC attunments.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've been looking for where it's located to take it out but i can't find it. View souce shows it as being written like this: &lt;!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: wow_formanswers --&gt; which would make it visible. I'm just not sure where to start.

I would ask the vbulletin.com team on this one. The commenting that you are listing is not something my product actually lists. It's something that vbulletin's code lists. They may have a workaround for you mate. In otherwords, my product does not contain that comment code.

The third and fourth optional questions are not showing their answers at all. This is using the latest version. They just come up blank no matter what I put in the fields.

In the Admin CP if you go to vBulletin Options > Elricstorm's WOW Form configuration settings

the first question is "What is the URL ending for your form?" and the answer to that is what you have at the end in the "do=" area, so if the answer is "wow-form" then it should be working with that url and since it isn't i can't help further but i would check that first

Check your vboptions and make sure the form name is wow_form first of all. Secondly, make sure your permissions are setup for who can view the form. Lastly, verify in your templates that wow_form exists.

Edit the answer template and customize how it appears for your board. The answer template provides all of the variables for answers but you can adjust how it looks and appears on your own board simply by customizing it.

Without actually looking at your admincp and seeing how things are configured, I'm not sure what the issue is. If you want me to assist further, you would more than likely have to setup a temporary test admin account for me and supply the credentials in a PM to me. If you have a test forum board setup with the same problem, this is actually a better method for me to use to test with.

I've helped others out with their calendar and form issues in the past and usually it's something minor that was the cause in practically every situation.

Turinn, it's fixed now.

The issue was that in your Elricstorm's WoW Configuration Settings in vboptions, you had the full URL address instead of the ending url address. In otherwords:

It should be:

wow_form

not.. urladdress/wow_form

It's not difficult to misread the options example but it basically states something along the lines of:

Example: wow_form

Note: This is the name of the form you will use to call your hyperlink
to.(ex. if wow_form it would be:
http://yourdomain.com/yourforums/newthread.php?do=wow_form)

.. meaning that if your template is set to wow_form in the box, you could then call the URL with that following example. I may rewrite the box so that it's more clear. My apologies. :)

You can go to http://www.justice-alex.com/vForum/newthread.php?do=wow_form and see that it's fixed. :)

Please look at the options - everything is there. You can change "Recruitment Application" to anything.

Given that, yes I will be porting this modification (and my raid calendar modification) so that it supports "all" game formats. In addition, I will be publishing my Loot distribution system as well which is very detailed and houses a number of ajax features.

i am not sure if anyone really has said this or understands this but i really do beleive this to be one of the best mods ever made simply because the gaming generation is growing in overwhelming numbers....i myself am 31 years old and love online rpgs as a past time for when my wife and kids go to bed and i cant fall asleep yet

this mod right now for all of us guild leaders like myself and assistants is a much needed thing as it will give us so much more free time ....i get more then 10 apps per day for 2 Moons and i cant keep up with the copy and pasteing the app to the private section or moving it and making it into a pole for the other officers to vote on

this mod by far wins the mod of the year award in my book

some things you might want to add when you are doing this is that after the person is voted and approved it auto adds them into the right user group for guild or clan

i love the app, i love the its moved and turned into a poll to be voted on....just add the auto usergroup option and it will "pwn" every mod out there for guilds and clans for gaming

really pat yourself on the back on this one....its the best mod i have seen on here so far

I already installed and am greatly impressed and interested in this mod. I set it up and understand how to change the title of the thread the mod creates.

I saw earlier that you replied about enabling the mod to create the thread titled with the persons class/name. Then shortly after seem to reply to the same question saying it can be changed.

I was wonding if you can have it so each thread posted would grab the applicants name and class and use that as the title. I have looked over the options in my admin settings and cannot find a way to do this. Just to confirm, I'm looking for a way to have the title of the forum post change for each applicant displaying their name and class. Not just a generic title for every applicant.

If there is a way to do this already, advice on how to do so would be great.

This would have to be the most important mod on the horizon for gaming clans like mine. I'm a 44yr old father of 3 who runs a G(family) rated gaming clan (ET:)) for parents and and their children (a good excuse for us big kids:p). I loved the concept of Abe1's form hack but despite going cross-eyed for days I was unable to get it(my application form (http://www.vc.clanservers.com/Application%20Form.htm)) working with it. Abe1's form hack is just beyond me and so my only other option is to wait and be thankful that there are people like you who can improve on it for VBnoobs like me.

However, it's essentially useless to anyone looking to use such a technology for a non-World of Warcraft or non-Gaming purpose (which is, believe it or not, just as large of a group looking for a product/plug-in such as this).

I know I can use phrasing to modify the questions & output, but editing the output (font sizes & etc., as well as organization of the information), and editing the answering options/methods is too much of a hassle. I also couldn't seem to figure out how to disable the portion that asks for character name, race, class, level, etc. and thus assumed it was either impossible or otherwise not worth it.

I'll keep an eye on this mod for improvements, and an eye on similar mods that may sprout up in the future.

This product uses the base code and is purely a revamp of FORM HACK by Abe, customized for Application Form WoW purposes. Before this came out, I used Abe's Form Hack and found it great, you just need to know how to edit the source code to make the answers yourself, and he shows you how, for the most part.

I know I can use phrasing to modify the questions & output, but editing the output (font sizes & etc., as well as organization of the information), and editing the answering options/methods is too much of a hassle. I also couldn't seem to figure out how to disable the portion that asks for character name, race, class, level, etc. and thus assumed it was either impossible or otherwise not worth it.

Any and all questions should be able to be removed directly from the plugin code, which is how it was done via Abe's product, this one just attempted to give you all available questions you'd possibly need as a WoW guild site so that no one would have to edit code. (I still do.)

What fonts do you wish to modify? The form fonts? The fonts of the data spit out to the new thread, PM, etcetera? I can't help you if I don't know what you need. :)

Odd. Have you enabled usergroup permissions in the Form Configurations Options? If so, have you input the specific usergroups able to use the form? This would disable viewing of this form for unregistered users so this issue wouldn't happen, instead they'd get a forum error message telling them they need to register or login.

If I can do it then you can too. It is very limited to what phpnoobs are able to achieve but check out my edited application form for our Enemy Territory based clan. Of course my fingers are crossed for an editable purpose made ET Application Form some day :D. I spent a bit of time playing around with the phrases to achieve the result.

The forum I have setup to have this post to is a private forum but I have set unregistered users to be able to post to it just not see it. One question, After submit is hit, the app. shows up in a thread. How do I change the font size of the Personal Information Area to a larger size. I have edited this to suit my needs for America Army. I have changed all font sizes in xml, but the submited app. does not change...Thanks.

You'll need to edit the wow_form_answers template since that's what is pulled when posting the answers to the new thread. Right now it looks like the header for that section is set to +2, and the rest appears to pull the font size of your standard forum posts.

Our guild is starting to recruit in both factions now and I would like to have a application for both. Since my current one is set to Alliance, any new Horde members can't put in their proper race/class info.

Since the classes are across the board now with TBC, unless you want to have different questions per faction it's a pretty easy fix.

Do you have new posts from that usergroup to said forum set as moderated? Check all the usergroups that post new apps and are coming up moderated, and make sure the forum permissions are set right.

What exactly are you looking to do with the Attunement section (mine has been off for eons, and now with most keys and attunements being nuked in 2.4 it becomes even more useless)... could you elaborate so we know where to start?

Hi Everyone..

Been a long time since I revisited my own modification. I've been working heavily and haven't had much time to do much of anything programming wise. I just now got back into gaming and have been designing a custom Age of Conan vbulletin theme skin and also creating a new recruitment application form for that game. I still play World of Warcraft, but only on a very limited basis.

The two biggest issues I think most folks have been talking about here are the new security token issues with 3.7x. I saw a fix outlined here and yes, that works fine. I've fixed it for the AoC recruitment app but I wanted to touch base with some other areas of this one.

I will more than likely update the WoW recruitment form for 3.7x as I place the AoC one up.

If anyone has suggestions for the upcoming changes, please post them here and I'll be looking at things to come.

I had the same issue, It had something to do with the cache or somethign with the templates... I fully modified my xml to reflect WOLTK... Now however I am having an issue with a "security toekn" IE: CSRF, I for the life of me can not figure out where the line is to be modified... And no one has posted a sugestion in the dev forum on it..

I am no genious when it comes to php but i gave this a go for the sake of my sanity when WotLK was released.....its worked on our forum and i stress this is a short term fix till electricstorm or someone with the same know how starts to work on this script again

Right ok i cheated on the next part but it works, wont reflect it in the control panel but still it works ok on the form

Again i stress, i just looked at the file and made the next logical steps i claim no glory for this its electricstorms work that takes all the credit and as i said i am the village idiot so if it takes over the world dont blame me LOL

I applied the fixes in the post above mine and they worked fine, however this mod is so outdated a LOT of the info it asks for in the form are no longer relevant, this is a good mod I just hope the author can find some time to update it. Part ONE : Modifying the plugin code
Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager
Click on [Edit] next to your formname under the Elricstorm product

$dropdownchoice273 = "73";

In your style, select 'Edit Templates'
Scroll to the bottom, find 'wow_form', double_click
Find the following block:

Part TWO - Add the new phrase(s)
Languages & Phrases -> Phrase Manager
"Add New Phrase" button
Phrase Type : GLOBAL
Product : Elricstorm's World of Warcraft Recruitment Form
Varname : wow_form_deathknight
Text : Death Knight
Note that in the above example, the "Varname" *MUST* match the new vbphrase that you added above
Click "Save"
Part THREE - Modify the template
Styles & Templates -> Style Manager
In your style, select 'Edit Templates'
Scroll to the bottom, find 'wow_form', double_click
Find the following block:

This occurs in versions past ... I think 3.6.something or other. Fix:

Edit your wow_form template, find the following:

Add this after:

I'm not certain the sessionhash is necessary, but it works. Tested on 3.7.4, I will not speak to this fix's validity on any other version.
