Q: Why has this hack been discontinued as a commercial product?
A: It has been discontinued as a commercial product mainly because we found it to be unprofitable compared to the resources required to maintain & develop it. There are also personal and time-related reasons involved, which make it impossible to continue the development of the product.

Q: How is this fair to your current customers?
A: This is fair to our current customers because this is the best way to discontinue a product. This way, our customers can benefit from whatever contributions the community makes to this product, either by supporting or developing it, which would not be possible if the product was left for use exclusively by the customers, or if it was completely erased off of the face of earth. Our customers have gained the right to install the software on any number of sites (as opposed to just one), and the software runs faster due to the fact that it is now open source. Ultimately, if this product's development is continued by this community, our customers will benefit more than if it remained commercial, because we would be unable to support it for the above mentioned reasons.

Q: Can I remove the copyright notice from the footer?
A: If you are a customer, you may, as a compensation, remove the copyright notice from the footer of the software. If you are not, you may not remove the copyright unless you donate at least $10.00 in support for this hack. Regardless of whether or not you are a customer, you must keep the copyright notices elsewhere in the product's package if you choose to redistribute it.

Q: Anything else?
A: Nothing, other than a usual warning to install the software at your risk, and a reminder, that it is no longer supported. It has been tested and confirmed working on vBulletin 3.5.4 through 3.6.7 PL1, however, as with any other hack, there are no guarantees, and the software is provided as-is.

From what I can see (haven't installed) but it looks like it adds freinds request (similar to myspace), and displays your friends in your profile.

are you done w/ this project or will it be updated as vb updates? i just hate to give my users somthing and have them put energy into it and take it away the next upgrade.

Okay, that's fine. Just to let you know, however, this hack is stable as it is, and I'd even say that it is more stable than the other similar hacks that are available, including Zoints. It may not have as many features as zoints does, but it can be easily modded and/or customized by other people, now that it is not encoded... :)

Instead of editing the path, please upload the images file under the image folder of the skin that you are using. :)

The same way you add anyone to your buddy list. It's the same thing, except mutual buddy list is now a friends' list.

The error in your quote might be caused by a problem specific to your site and to the site of the other guy. I installed this on a fresh copy of vBulletin, and it installed without any problems or error messages.

I made all the plugin and file edits that are listed in the readme, but when it came time to import the product, it wouldn't import.

It's stuck at the importing screen and doesn't create the tables or anything. Very strange.

Same here, luckily on my test board only.

Additionally, one thing I'm not too keen on atm is that because the CSS declines a lot of characters, it will not allow '/' thus making it impossible (as far as I can tell) to add images as backgrounds for your profile pages.

Is there way to enabled images as backgrounds (aside from purely localized ones)... so far, you cannot even put them in a seperate folder because of the /need/for/directory/reference.

Please download the package again and use the new memberinfo modification for zodiac sign... There was a little fix. To summarize, the fix is as follows:

REPLACE A VBULLETIN 3.6.5-AND-BELOW VERSION...

I made all the plugin and file edits that are listed in the readme, but when it came time to import the product, it wouldn't import.

It's stuck at the importing screen and doesn't create the tables or anything. Very strange.

That's the way it is meant to work. People get to keep their buddy lists, but the intersections of buddy lists are what creates friend lists.

I am facing another error. I cannot edit other user's profile comments or delete. When I try to click "YES" to permissions of "Can Edit other's profile comments, or delete" after saving they again go back to "NO" and isnt working.

I need that permission to delete some people when spam.

Actually a few of the dates don't match with the right zodiac sign. I'm looking through the dates right now and can edit this post with the correct code.

I have a strange problem now. When I make a new post it comes up with the error that it is a duplicate post, but when i return to the thread there is only the one post. It seems to go away when I disable the product so I assume it is doing something fishy. It doesn't seem to matter what style i use since even my unmodified style is giving me issues. Can you think of anything that could give me this problem?

It ended up being the thread prefix hack. for some reason it makes things a double post when an admin/supermod posts

Seems to work fine. I may look to see what causes this error *shrug* Too dang tired now to do it.

Also for those having problems importing the product. Do NOT use the "Add/Import Product" that is under Plugins and Products. Go to Manage Products, Scroll down to the bottom and click the Add/Import Products there.

If you are running vbseo you may need to add rel="novbseo" in some of the links such as the supress customization link.

I have been extremely successful in installing and using this, and currently run it with vBulletin 3.6.7 PL 1. No errors, everything is working well, comments and the like work perfectly.

Seriously, there are no major problems from my experience, and the only minor one is a part of the product import process which has no effect.

And I guess it is not supported...

If you go to the main forum (www.grapplersguide.com) and 99.8% of the rest of the forum and you scroll all the way down you will be able to read what it says just fine. It is basically says everything that my site offers. I do not see anything wrong with this because the text is not hidden and it is not false. Everything listed there is what you can find at my forum.

Was it this mod that added line break support to profile fields?? If so... THANK YOU! I remember being really pissed off with vBulletin shortly after getting it because of this (I started with 3.6.4). Anyway, just noticed that line breaks actually parse now (at least in the Bio field) and got really excited! :)

Also, I've cleaned up the comment postbit and friendbit.. If anyone is interested I can share the code. I gave a max-width to avatars (big ones can really kill the layout), added some valigns where they were needed (postbit text was vertically aligning = ugly), and this was a personal choice, but I thought the "Last Profile Update" in the friendbit was really unnecessary. Well, nothing too big, but thought I'd ask while I was here. :)

First I would remove your ip address. It might be another mod you have on your site that is causing the error. I had a similar error (don't think it was exactly the same) and I disabled and uninstalled my "Guests Only See First Post" mod and then everything worked fine. Now I just need to figure out how to get that other mod to work with it. :confused:

Does anyone know how I can possibly get the friends list to show up in the USERCP also? I'm trying to get my USERCP similar to a myspace profile and I want the users to be able to see their friends in their USERCP also just like someone can view them in their profile.

I tried placing the same code in my USERCP as the MEMBERINFO for the friends list, but it comes up as I have no friends. It's not recognizing me as the user it seems.

I changed nothing. The link in the original post does not work, I am guess due to problems with the mysql upgrade vbulletin.org had today. The link above does work.

If you are paranoid about using the above link, don't. Wait for the author to reupload his attachment and use his link.

This is a very minor thing you could change, but it's more a small criticism. Please think about making the zodiac signs transparent. Because at the moment, they look pretty bad on a dark background (see attachment):
