I tired searching but it's not working, so here goes. I used VBulletin a while ago, and now thinking about using it at work on our Intranet.

But I need to know for sure if this option (mod) can be done.

I need to have the ability for users to ?subscribe to specific forums? not just threads in a forum. I see this is possible but noticed it only states ?daily updates via email.? (this is nice) BUT is it possible to have an email sent for each new post and reply within a post in this forum instead of a daily round-up?

As an example: I have employees who just want to subscribe to the employee news forums (In this forum there are 5 topics currently). They want to get an email anytime/every time a post has been added, updated, or replied to within this anyone of the 5 topics in the forum.

They may not want to read any other forum on the board, but want to subscribe to any forum they like. Since it's in a work environment they will not be going to the boards often, this is where the email notification comes in. when they see something they will go to the forums.

Any replies would be great. I need to decide on Wednesday if Vbulletin will allow me to do this. I've worked with VB before, but it's been a while and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty modding some snippets of code to get this working, if there isn?t one already.

Regards
Louis

there is actually 2 or 3 hacks that can handle per-forum basis subscriptions in the best possible ways, like daily/instant alerts...

if they don't answer your specific need, i'm sure someone will be available if you call for a "Modification Not Available?"

To add (in the meantime), a manual way to do it is to add the email address directly to the forum in the AdminCP so that when a thread (or post) is posted/created - they automatically receive a notification. Of course, it is up to the administrator to take care of this. Not exactly an easy option as it requires updates and work, but a temporary workaround nonetheless. :)
