Managing Attachments

My webhost tells me my attachments table exceeds 1Gig and that I should work on reducing it. i can't seem to find a way to do that effectively. Is there a mod or something that can assist? I'd like to be able to view all the attached image files with upload dates and select those I want to delete.

Is there a mod or some means of accomplishing this? Please advise?

There is an option to store attachments in the file system. I am assuming you are still storing them in the database if this has occured, right? If so, move them to the file system,
