I believe that the statusicon just isnt enough to let users know there is new content in a thread, so I had an idea. Marquee (scrolling) text. The text is linked to the image that is being displayed, so if a user marks it as read, it dissapears! It works just like the image.
Support will only be given in this thread to users who clicked install. On that note, PLEASE CLICK INSTALL!

Its because their are no new posts, I'll try and post spam to keep it marked as new. This only works if there is new content

For a suggestion, what can I change about it to make it look more pleasurable?

Cool! Thanks!
I like the concept...but on busy boards that marquee is going to drive my community nuts. I would like to suggest a static (large) image that says NEW POSTS and perhaps next to in the same image style words of START NEW TOPIC.
I have on average about 200 new topics and posts per day ---the majority of my forums would have that marquee on them and that would make the page very busy.
Anyway that's my thoughts on it.

Whenever there is a new post, there will be scrolling text across the forum that the new posts are in that says "New Threads/Posts" I don't have it installed on my board ATM
