I've updated my test board from 3.6.4 to 3.6.7 PL. Sure was nice to be able to just upload the new files and tweak a handful of templates, after first completing a project to convert my php hacks to plugins.
Question: Now that I have my test board converted and working, when I update my 'live' board would it work to export the 'template' table from the test board database and import it into the live board database (after the live board upgrade process has done its thing)? Seems like this should work, but want to be sure I'm not overlooking something obvious. Other tables that would have to be exported/imported too?

On the test board;
Styles & Templates > Download/Upload Styles > Choose your style > Download.
Once you've upgraded, import the xml file generated from the above.

Thanks for the response. I never thought of trying it that way.
I use a different visual style on the test board, to be darned sure I recognize it is the test board when I'm on it (different colors, background image, etc.), otherwise they are meant to be the same. Under these circumstances, is export/import of the style still the way to do this?
What I've always done in the past is work out all the changes on the test board, then update the real board and copy the full text of each modified template from the test board to the real board.

Yes, except you will have to make the test board an exact style copy of your real board, apply the edits, then export/import.

Have found a way to get best of both worlds. My test board's style is now an exact copy of the live board as far as vB is concerned. But the images linked for my bbs logo and page background, although the same filename, are different for the two boards. This gives me sufficient reminders when I'm in the test board yet allows the styles to be the same.
Never would have thought of this without your suggestion. Thanks.
Question: are strored phrases considered as part of a style? Are they included when exporting/importing styles?

No, phrases are not exported with the style.

This is sounding better and better. Thanks again.
