View Full Version : Why is VB Still Ugly?

Sorry, there is no delicate way to put it. Typically, over time successful software will get a facelift to keep up with the times. SMF is an excellent example of a board that has a great default look. Yet, after years of success VB still looks like VB has always looked, which was not that great to start with, and now is badly dated. The default icons and smilies don't even translate cleanly to non-white backgrounds.

Do we need to start some sort of write in campaign to beg them to hire a graphics artist?

I just laughed when I saw the title. :)

I think we'll see something different in vB 4, whenever that may be. Until then, I'm happy designing my own skins.

I personally like simple and square. Im so sick of these new bubble themes thats bloat the page.

Absolutely.

Maybe you think I'm kidding but it's seems fabolous when I am looking to original vBulletin skin carefully.

ssslippy, it's kind of ironic you say that, because the opposite is true (all taste aside).

The newer layouts are much less bloated resulting in a much faster render time, and download. They also scale much better...

I like that its ugly, it makes customized forums stand out so much more and a person's hard work is thereby more appreciated
