Custom pages to domain root

After many attempts at providing a front end CMS bridge on the TLD,
I decided to create a custom setup.
My problem is that the vB rests in mydomain.net/forum/
and I wish to create a front end with custom vB pages at mydomain.net

Does anyone know how to pull this off?
When I create a custom page for vBulletin, it has to rest inside the forum folder for it to load.
When I attempt to put a custom page a level up within the domain root,
even when I change the include in the php, it gives me a no file exists
when trying to access the global.php

In review:
my forum installation- mydomain.net/forum
I would like mydomain.net/homepage.php to interact with vBulletin.

I have done that after reading all 34 pages of this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=62164).

I have 3 problems which were not solved.
1.) no Style images or CSS are showing...only text.
2.) all forum links are now domain.net/admincp/ rather than domain.net/forum/admincp
3.) no javascript is working in menus
-- I have tried adding $vboptions[bburl] and $vboptions[homeurl] into the headinclude
-- but it still did not solve the navigation problem.

My initial objective was to utilize some sort of vB powered front end cms on the domain
itself while keeping the forum within the domain.net/forum folder.
It seems to be more problem than what its worth.
Does anyone have an alternative to following this format?
I have tried Wordpress and Drupal at one time.
Currently, vBadvanced is installed.

It would really be nice to find an easy but powerful CMS front end that I could bridge
into vBulletin while having the vB install one level down. (/forum)
The needs are community based with mainly News by category, Blogs & Profile pages.

You need to set absolute URL's for images, this is usually achieved by going to Style Manager > Edit Style Options. Note that this SHOULD work, provided that your skin uses the variables.
