Hi,
I want to make some members moderators.
So I went to AdminCP, typed the username in, then at the top right changed it from Registered User to Moderator.
On there posts it says Moderator etc, but they have told me they cant see the -Mod- link at the bottom of the forum.
Have I missed something?
Thanks

make them a mod of a particular forum, in the forum manager

Do I need to do that for every moderator or can I not just make it "Moderators" (the group) for all?

There is a MOD that allows you to add a usergroup as a moderator to a forum. Unfortunally the default way is forum by forum.

Ok well I have people all moderators, but they cant see the Mod link at the bottom.
So I went to AdminCP > Forums & Moderators > Forum Manager
Then add moderators, when I click Add Moderator and fill in the details, when I hit save it says it does it successfully, but it doesnt change.
It still says Moderators (0),
Please help

The only mods that can see the "mod" link at the bottom of the page are super moderators, i believe. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok to sum up, To make a member a moderator I went into AdminCP, Users, Search For Users.
Typed in the member name, then there details came up.
Then at the top right where it says Usergroup Options, I have that set on Moderators from the dropdown box.
Then I save, it shows in there posts that there a moderator, but they dont see the moderator functions in thread tools, or the mod link at the bottom.
What have I not done/missed?

For the drop down menu (with regular mods), it'll only show if they're assigned to a particular forum - if you want your mods to moderate all of the forums, set them as super mods. If you do that, they should be able to see the Mod CP link without any changes.
On the other hand, if you want your mods to only be responsible for just a few of the forums, assign them to the moderator usergroup, then manually add them as mods of the forums you want them to moderate. In the "footer" template, edit this bit of code:
<if condition="$show['modcplink']"><a href="$modcpdir/index.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[mod]</a></if>
And change it to:
<if condition="is_member_of($bbuserinfo, 6, 5, 7)"><a href="$modcpdir/index.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[mod] CP</a></if>
The 6, 5 & 7 refer to the usergroups that you wish to see the Mod CP link; 6 (admins), 5 (super mods) & 7 (mods). Change the numbers as you wish to match the usergroup id that can be found on the Usergroup Manager page.

Ok so I can either enter them manually.. which would take forever..
Is there a way I can just assign all members in the "Moderator" usergroup to moderate all forums?
Just read your bit about super mods.. can they do anything else or is that just like moderators but with the mod link

... you decide what they do - by editing the usergroup...

I set the moderator group with the super moderator setting as yes..
Whats the main difference between moderator and super moderator?

Moderators can only moderate the forums you add them to via the Forums & Moderators section in the admincp. Super Mods can moderate all forums, without being added as a forum moderator.
