Can I exlude forums from showing in new messages?

I would want to exclude some forums from showing in the /search.php?do=getnew feature. Is this possible? If, how?

You can try this hack for v3.5.x, several people have said it also works fine with v3.6.x as well - Opt-Out Forums from Get New/Get Daily
