This range was 900, I took it down to 0 and saved. Now, when I enter the the
admin panel, it goes directly back to the username&password screen, without
signing in and showing the inside screen again. How can we solve this
problem?

a user will stay logged on. You have to set it to the amount of seconds you wish to stay logged on for until you are automatically logged out. Note: I have my forums set for 42400 secs which is a half day or so.

You should leave it at 900. To solve it, you will need to run a query to set the time back to 900.
