How to install MOD

I'm new to this board and have no idea how to install MOD
especially those with single files like i.e

name_of_file.XML

Where I should upload this file?

what is it from?..

anything thats called a product-*****.xml you upload in your admincp
any php files or html files you upload via ftp to your server
any bitfield or cpnav.xml go in includes/xml in ftp

make sure you read the instructions given to you carefully and you should have no problem
