Is it better to have a site with very few mods, or a site that has alot of mods? Does it help with the speed of the site, and does it make it safier? If so, is there a way to restore a vbulletin to its original state, but still keep the posts and members?

1./ Few mods usually work better.
2./ Less mods = faster loading times.
3./ Yes, less mods = less exploits.
4./ Yes, uninstall mods from the AdminCP and undo template edits (if edited).

Use only the mods that you need in relation to your audience.
If you are targeting teenagers then an arcade wouldn't be that bad of an idea but you have to motivate them to post and not play games all day.

I think "Users visited today" is a good hack to get. I also have to plug my hack "Advanced Navbar Links".

Don't overload your site with mods. They will put more resources on your server and someone could find an exploit in a mod that you have installed.

Edit: Dismounted doesn't seem very dismounted. He beat me yet again.

Thats my site, im going torwards gamers, so most likely there teens, but that can range. So far I have a
-arcade
-Vbplaza
-Shoutbox
-Affiliate Mod
-CYB Statistics
-Award System
-Doante Mod
-A user Activity Mod
-Thank you mod
_And some other mods that let me know how many guests and members there are (currently have turned off)

Are any of these bad?

Don't you think that's a bit overloaded?

Yes I do, thats why im asking the pro which mods are the non-safiest, as they will go.

I say you should definitely take out the shoutbox because members should post in the forums.

And take out vbPlaza as it contains exploits.

Okay im loosing the arcade, vbplaza and award mod as of now. Can I just install a new skin, turn of the mods, and delete the old skins, and then it will be okay?

You will have to redo template edits on the new skin.
You don't have to install a new skin.

I want new skins, so is it possible for me to not undo all the template edits, but simply delete the templates, and install new skins, and then everything will be fine and dandy?

my main parenting site have a total of 83 products, spread across 186 plugins... and it is as fast as from the start with no plugins at all... with 82 000 members... (750 online all time!)

ok, i recoded most of the plugins to be efficient, and i make sure they work only when needed, so sure, i make it so my site is not bloated by addons...

Okay after taking some advise, and three hours of work (Im sleepy, hard to think), I have done a turn around I guess of my forums. No more arcade, awards, vb plaza. All go away. Im still working on getting the mods on the new skins such as thank you mod. But all in all I like it. I also made ot so guests cant view as many forums, and the skins I picked in my opinion are very inviting and friendly. I still have some work to do, but im tired, and done for tonight, So it will get there.

Any comments, Please?
