Ok well am not sure if this is even in the right place but here goes and sorry if it isn't
I bought a vbulletin lisance again and opened a site called VBauction aka vbulletinauction.com
Now I hope this doesnt offend anyone especiall from vbulletin it was just I seen a few sites like vbulletingames.com etc and couldnt think of any other name all I knew was I wanted an auctioning website where people could buy sell trade items and also buy sell offer request and advertise there services and also a community to discuss web hosting, scripting and coding issues,
With the help of vbclassafieds I was able to do this I have placed on our sites disclaimer that we have no direct affiliation with jalesoft the creators of vbulletin.
Now just wondering is this ok to have the name as it is with the disclaimer there and what do people think of the idea of the site??
Thanks

I like the idea, its powered by a vb, so why not call it vbulletinauctions. Its a good idea, who knows how far it will go.

vBulletin is a registerd Trademark.Basically that means you are not allowed to use that name in your domain(s) if you want to avoid legal action .... You are not permitted to use the name "vBulletin" UNLESS you ask for permission to use that name but as far as i know jelsoft does not allow this

Well, thats the end of that then : /
Unless the site gets big, I doubt Jelsoft will give a crap.
The name makes no sense, however. If the site is about auctions, then what does it have to do with vBulletin other than being powered by it? The name of the site suggests that everything traded has to do with vBulletin. When I clicked on this thread I was expecting to see an Ebay-type site that specializes in auctioning vBulletin skins, mods, etc.

a copyrighted title is not only "when thesite goes big", but all the time...
i suppose Jelsoft will act on it in the next opening business days.

1) when asking people to check out your site, at least post an actual link to it. some of us are lazy. :P
2) you did absolutely nothing to it except change the default logo. bleh.

Why not just put in the footer
"We are not an official Jelsoft website and is not associated with Jelsoft" and etc etc etc.

As far as the review I agree with this..

I'm suprised vb didn't send you a service ticket regarding the domain name when you updated your license record with them...they did me when I registered vbulletin-products.com and associated to a license. They are reasonable to work with however, as long as you are and acknowledge their copyright concerns...

if vbulletin doesnt want anyone using the vbulletin name in anyone else's domain, then they need to go purchase it, otherwise, it's free game.

WRONG vBulletin is trademarked without permission they have the right to put legal action against you.which may include but is not limited to force your host to shut you down.Issue a law suit against you (this will cost you $$)...

Yeah agreed but it is something you have to ask them otherwise they might enfore there rights.I Remember somebody who had a website about windows XP (microsoft) with help etc. That website became quite populair and microsoft has forced the owner to hand over his domain because it used microsoft trademarked product name(Windows XP)

That is considered spamming as it is not "on topic" if you wanna tell someone they broke the rules pm's are more suitable ;)

Lol Eric, get a life.
There are so many websites out there using the default vbulletin skin with a changed header, i dont give any time to a website if the webmaster hasnt put a decent amount of effort into his site, there are plenty of free skins on here that may be more suitable.

No.
They need to enforce it fair and swift on any and all site that contains vbulletin, and not select which ones they will and will not allow.

I suggest putting in a ticket on vb.com asking for permission to use vbulletin in your site name. I did and they said no problem. They just need a trail showing you asked for permission and they granted it. They won't tell you no way no how, they think more along the lines of free advertising as people will get curious to the name of where you got it from, etc.

No unless you trademarked "bashys" and you are the legal owner of that name

ok I got this to say you people are rude and impolite ok my site has been closed due to vbulletin saying it was illegal so I did the right thing and closed it.
Also my site wasnt about display it was about the idea I wanted feedback on stop arguing and wasting your lives away its pathetic hate me for it all you want am 16 years old and thought the idea was a good one at the time and wasn't aware of some of the legalities behind it.
You people siriously need to grow up and instead of arguing over whats what and legalities I was unaware of that I wasn't allowed to do that and soon as I had OFFICIAL confirmation I shut the site down as it was the right thing to do.
I didnt want this post to start arguments or get people worked up or spoil the community atmosphere nor did I expect people to be so rude and tell me my site is rubbish on display etc it was about the idea.
Now do the right thing and just stop arguing if a 16 year old can do the right thing then am sure you adults can to.
Am really disappointed I thought todays society were alot more polite I was wrong.

We were only trying to help you. Most people know a lot more than you or I and it's best to listen to them.
