I currently have vbShout on my board and I dont like it. I am wanting to use this mod, but I was wondeing if it goes where vbShout is loveted, or a diffrent page?

Also, since I am wanting to replace this with vbShout, is it able to just have one chatroom and stay up all of the time without ever having to be closed out or stoped?

I've been keeping up with this mod ever since I stumbled upon it at version 2.5 and it seems that it has come a long way. Im glad to see the adware situation fixed.

it's a wonderful hack.

I already said to Tim: i upgrade to this version and now i have 2 box in admincp [ EWT vBChat and vBChat], but this is a minor thing.

A suggestion: maybe it's useful, when a user send a private chat /mp, apperars a little pop-up alerting that the user receive a private msg in vBChat.

OK, I installed. But have problems.

Shows up as an installed product. Is in the CP and vBulletin Options. Is on the lists up by the Calendar on the main menu in the Forums.

But when I click to open the Mod, I get an error message #HTTP 404 on a blank page that starts up.

I have a suggestion. OK in javachat you can set a message which will always show up once someone enters the chat is there anyway that we can do that with vbChat? So we like type in a message and that message is automatically showed whenever someone joins the chat? I also have another suggestion i see that when someone is in the chat and if you go to view whos online it doesnt show them as if they were in the chat it simply says there viewing the index. Can you set it so that when someone is in the chat and if you go view the whos online it says there in the chat? The "X Enters the Room" & "X Leaves The Room" has been removed in the current version since it wasn't functioning pretty well though it'll be back in the next release which is v2.9.4 or v3.0).

As for the chat being displayed in who's online, it was disabled by default for several reasons, however if you wanna have that feature to work again, open up the "chat.php" file using a text editor and comment out the line where it says "define('LOCATION_BYPASS', 1);" so it would like like this:

Suggestion:

Can we make something so that users can use a custom chat avatar or of course there's from the forums and it shows up to the left of their names in chat? That is one thing that my users want so bad. Great mod and hope to instal it soon! It opens as a popup page in a new window so yeah. In v3.0, you can choose your own method, whether to open it as a popup, current window, new window, etc. and adjust its width and height of the chat room. Yes, as you may know already, the "Default Room" is permanent so it can never be closed, pruned, stopped or any of that. If you would like to have a room as permanent where it should never closes and pruned, just set the "Room Permanent" option to "Yes" while creating a new room.

How can we edit our own messages? Or edit messages from our members? I don't believe you can do that already as it's not necessary, but if you would like to delete and prune your and other member's messages, use the "Prune Option" feature of the Admin CP section.

Less features as I release updates. Better support. This hack has over the last few weeks become my baby and I dont think $15 is to much to ask for it. Plus you will get priority support with the pro version while if and when I release a lite version its doubtful it will be supported.

Right now its the same but with the ads and stuff. But im hard at work on v3 and will start possible releasing some early beta's of it soon for people to look at who have purchased the pro version. This version wont be getting many updates from here on out while the pro version already has a new ajax system that im ready to implement in v 2.9.5 which will be a step towards v3.

The new ajax I have made so far for v3 will allow almost 500% more load in the chat before it taxes the server to the same point as the current lite version. So I hope to get that released in the next 24 hours or so and then get full force into v3 which is a completely new set of code behind everything and stemming over to a more powerful and flexible system.

I plan to have a early stable release of v3 ready in the next 5-7 days if not less which will consist of a much faster core engine with a limit amt of features available at first but should push the capabilities of this chat well past that of flashchat and most other chats for server loads.

The professional version also gets priority support.

When members trying to signin they were ending up in different rooms! I also had the same problem! So I deleted the rooms, re-added them, and now everything works fine!

EWT Chat 3.0.0 Lite has been released. This version is a complete rewrite and is limited to only core features unlike the pro version thats being worked on and hopefully will be released later today.

The load of the chat should be considerably less now then on previous versions.

Important Notice: All current messages in the system will be deleted on upgrade to 3.0 since we are using a new storage method that Im still working on.

Those are irc style usergroup icons. They show who has power in the chat such as admins mods and supermods.

Thats all there is now. You need to delete the AdminCP files from the previous versions.

Not enjoying it at all, I wish you could let us know what files we need to remove from the server when there is an upgrade and also for some reason messages are not showing in the chat when posted and now it's telling me I don't have permission to access the chatroom....

There's also no options in Usergroups for me to play with.

IE returns javascript system error on certain sites.

IE has issues with the scrolling to the bottom of the div.

If the username is like Härbör, it shows up so: H?rb?r

Same in the box, all text will show up with ??? if it is with äöü etc.

Also it would be possible to set off the use of smilies and bbcode?

I had a very similar strange thing on mine.

If I typed a message it could not be seen in IE6 but it could in FF.

Now if I clicked a drop down menu like the quick links one....The chat suddenly appeared on the screen in IE.

I had absolutely no text in my chat box after several attempts. I then put in a smilie in the box..hit return... and BAM.... all the old things I have typed just turned up.... very strange indeed....

What does this mean guys?

Installed, asper instructions.
Click on Chat in NavBar, get message:
"Sorry, but the administrator has disabled your usergroups access to the chat."
What to do?
Nothing in EWT vBChat ACP settings to enable/disable usergroups. Can't find elsewhere in the ACP settings anything that allows usergroups access to chat.
In the chat_ajax.php what am I suppose to enter for User Configuration? Is that where I went awry?
I did update $datecut & $gmtcorrect to my forum's settings. -6 works for $gmtcorrect, doesn't it?

you have to edit your usergroup settings.. it's in there to give permissions.

I got EWT Chat to work, once usergroup access was turned on.
This should be added to the install instructions.
"Must enable EWT Chat for each usergroup you want Chat accessible to.
In ACP/Usergroups/Manage Usergroups, by selected usergroup, Edit, go to bottom, there's a new untitled "Chat" section, turn on/off applicable options."

Maybe I missed it here somewhere.......but I have set Usergroup permissions to not allow anyone to create new rooms, but they still can. Any suggestions here?

Interesting.

For I.E. Users

Uninstall the Plugin
Make sure ALL Templates are REMOVED.
Reinstall the plugin.

Now it works in I.E.

I even logged out and killed my cache and cookies, and I am still able to get in and chat with I.E.

If I can figure out the pruning, I'll let you know.

Seems that the Auto Prune setting does not like 0.5 days, guess it only accepts whole numbers. Would be nice to be able to auto prune every 30 minutes or so.

I just installed this and will try it for a day or so. It REALLY needs a "Who is Chatting" feature. If it works, I have no problem at all purchasing the pro version but that one seems to be lacking some features also. Any plans to add it?

i installed and i done everything ... problem is i can login or someone else can login to chat room but whatever we write does'nt come up to screen.. could anyone tell me how to fix this problem. Thank you

Just installed 3.0.1. Issues i found:

1: Scroll bar keeps jumping up and down. Very annoying! No matter what I do it won't stop.
2: Sometimes I have to type a smiley in order to see the chat window.

Anyone knows a solution to these?

The 2.9.x series was 1000x better, this new 3.0 version may have "significantly" reduced server load (I havent noticed that much of a difference) but it had almost all the features you wanted for a chat room. I even bought the pro version hoping it would get all the features and stuff but that too has been lacking support meaning I just got scammed out of $15. I am not very happy with this.

Beware of the support. The talkerbot he made, no updates on it either (good coder though). You might need a mini staff.
