Conditional to change the status icon not only after a post?

how can I change the status icon displayed in the forum home?

I mean...

What happen usually is:
if the user posted in this thread his status icon is thread_dot.gif

I'd like to generalize it also if the user did other things (voted to a poll, posted a thank you), etc.:

if the user did this action in this thread his status icon is thread_dot.gif
