After having my site hosted by them for the past 18 months, all of a sudden the shout box locked up. I could not even access the shoutbox files via any FTP method.
I wrote to them and ask for help to set the permissions back to 644 after seeing that some how the permissions were changed on those files.
Here is what they just wrote me, giving me no heads up, just shutting it down.
Hello,
Per our Terms of Service Chat scripts, other than those provided to your within your control panel are prohibited. Shout or Chat boxes are considered a form of chat and these do consume a great deal of system resources when used. This file has been disabled as it is in violation of the terms you agreed to. I am including links to our policies below so you may review them to ensure your site fully complies with our regulations. Thank you
So, the one thing that the kids loved on this site they (site5) just shut it off without a days notice so I could try to make other arrangements.
Who do you recommend that I use now?
Thanks,

A Small Orange and Jaguar PC both came out tops when I did a huge amount of research into this sort of thing last year. I went with A Small Orange, and the only reason I am no longer with them is because of a need for servers closer to my physical location. I would happily go back to them.
They seem to be quite popular among vBulletin communities too.

I don't get it ? site 5 server(s) site 5 rules they have the right to forbid anything they do not want on there server(s) if you still use it there they have the right to shut you down nothing more nothing less actually the fact you start this "anti site 5 " thread is pretty lame they are within there rights

I've had bad experiences with Site5 too. On several occasions, they've shut down a vBulletin site of mine with no prior warning, and no explanation. And, it's usually 12 hours or more before the reply to a support request to un-suspend an account, so you get hit at the wrong time you lose the best part of a day for your community.

Well, you have to post on their forum a little bit, just 5 posts for like 50 mb space and 200mb bandwith, but it gets MUCH better. www.xenweb.net Cpanel hosting, the works. AWESOME server speed, just like a payed host. I highly reccomend them. Go to www.vbtests.com and see how fast it is.
